Every morning at drop-off, I find myself amazed.

The classroom is never the same twice. One day it’s a glowing light table filled with shapes and shadows. Another, it’s water play that turns into a mini science lab. The sand table becomes a construction zone, the craft corner a place to build entire stories out of simple materials. It’s clear how much thought, effort, and creativity the teachers pour into these spaces. They don’t just prepare activities—they design experiences that meet the kids exactly where they are, and gently move them forward. It’s learning that feels like play, and it makes me deeply grateful every single day.

Meet Paula Peterson!

Paula brings a deep passion for early childhood education and over two decades of experience to our preschool team. Her journey began while earning a BA in Child Development, where she discovered her love for working with young children. She taught preschool and created engaging programming for children aged 3–12 at a college child development center before making Calgary home.

After moving to Calgary, Paula completed her Education degree while raising her family. She continued to follow her passion as a child program facilitator for over 9 years, supporting families with children under 6. Her work focused on delivering literacy-rich experiences, including the beloved Parent-Child Mother Goose Program.

Before joining us at Campus, Paula supported children with developmental delays, bringing warmth, patience, and a deep understanding of early learning needs.

She loves providing opportunities for children to explore, imagine, and problem-solve. Her teaching is rooted in open-ended art and play-based learning—celebrating the process over the product. She’s recently been exploring the magic of loose parts play!

Outside the classroom, Paula enjoys yoga, nature walks, crafting, biking, golfing, and, most of all, time with her family. We’re so lucky to have her!

Meet our teacher Ms. Rebecca! 🌺

My name is Rebecca Gerritsen and I have a passion for working with young children. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Calgary. I taught kindergarten with the Calgary Catholic School Board for over 8 years, before continuing my career by staying at home to care for our family’s 2 children. When the time permitted in 2015, I was eager to begin teaching pre-school with Campus Cooperative Pre-School. I love working at Campus. I enjoy working with the families, fostering community and helping children become capable independent learners. In recent years, I have begun my educational journey towards outdoor programming, forest schools and understanding the classroom as the third teacher. The environment at Campus provides me with the opportunity to explore and learn with children and their families. I am excited to share another year of learning and growing with the Campus Cooperative Community.

Hello to all of the new and returning families. We are so excited for the start of another amazing school year at Campus Preschool. Plan to stick around after pickup on Monday and Tuesday morning for coffee and donuts (all parents, caregivers, and siblings included). Hi Campus families! It’s hard to believe that the school year is coming to a close next week. We are so excited for our campus families to join us in our year end celebration picnic on Wednesday June 28. Please see image for details! Please note that there will be no class on Wednesday prior to the picnic, and that all children must be accompanied by an adult. The last day of class for the senior class is Monday, June 26 and the last class for the junior students is Tuesday, June 27. We hope to see you all there!
