🧡 Today, Niitoiyis Family Support Society recognizes the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Women and Girls.

We honour Indigenous women and girls, their strength, knowledge, leadership, voices and the vital roles they hold within families, communities and Nations.

Today is also a time to recognize the generations who came before, celebrate those who are shaping our communities today, and support the generations yet to come.

Women. Girls. Generations. Culture. Community. 🧡

Calling My/Our Spirit Back – A Journey of Remembrance and Connection

Beginning September 20, 2026, Calling My/Our Spirit Back will depart from Piikani Nation on a journey across Turtle Island, travelling through communities in British Columbia to Vancouver and returning home to Alberta.

The walk, ride and run honours and commemorates our relatives who have been lost tragically, while bringing communities together through remembrance, connection and ceremony.

We are honoured that this journey will connect with Niitoiyis Family Support Society’s Sisters in Spirit gathering in Calgary on October 4, 2026.

On October 4, we will come together to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit+ people, remember those who have been taken, and hold space for families, survivors and community.

We look forward to welcoming the Calling My/Our Spirit Back journey as it joins us for this important day of remembrance.

What does it mean to feel safe?

Safety can mean being able to speak without fear, make your own choices, have access to your own money, stay connected to family and friends, and feel respected in your own home and relationships.

Family violence isn’t always physical. Sometimes it looks like control, intimidation, isolation or fear.

You deserve to feel safe, heard and respected.
