Oh no! Something terrible has happened to our beloved bear, Fred 😰💔 Homework for the day is cancelled and we had our most intelligent and qualified detectives work on the case for today’s program. We had them figure out three key questions: whydunnit, howdunnit, and WHODUNNIT?! 🕵🏼‍♂️🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏾

Dear Crossroads Community Members,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that the basketball court at Cornerstone Youth Centre has been removed.

It goes without saying that this is a heavy loss for our community and for the youth living in it. The court meant so much to many. It was more than just a basketball court, it was a place where our youth gathered, friendships were built, laughter was shared, and meaningful connections were formed. For years, it has been a space filled with energy, joy, and community spirit.

On behalf of Cornerstone Youth Centre we would also like to offer a huge thank you to the over 200 community members who signed our petition to keep the court. It warmed our hearts to see the number of neighbours who took the time out of their days to make their voices heard and support our cause.

We know that this news is difficult, and we understand that many of you will have questions. We did an egg drop test for science !! The youth got so creative in how to protect their eggs. Using paper towels, fabric, sandwich containers, and so much more, it was lots fun! It was even more exciting to see which eggs survived and which cracked 😆🥚

If you ever wonder about what we do here at Cornerstone, this video sums it up pretty well! We are more than a youth centre. We’re a place where youth can feel a sense of belonging and community . Here, we empower our youth and push them to become the best people they could be! 💙✨

We have so many photos from when we visited ! The youth had such an awesome time in this police museum getting to learn so much about the police force and it’s history in Calgary. Cornerstone youth have mentioned that it’s their desired job to be a police officer, so having the opportunity to explore its world was very thrilling but also an amazing educational experience for them as well. The YouthLink staff were so great and welcoming, allowing our youth to explore the space, go scavenger hunting, sit in a police car, and be as immersive as their hearts desired!
