“I want to help create a community where people can feel like they belong,” says Arlene. “My goal is to merge the various ethnic, cultural, social, and religious groups into one holistic group where there are no barriers to involvement and participation.”
As we celebrate Seniors’ Week and this year’s theme of 40 Years of Connection, Contribution, and Community, we’re proud to recognize residents like Arlene who help make Bethany’s communities feel like home.
Arlene has called Bethany’s Kanerva House home for the past five years and is an active volunteer and familiar face within the building. She serves on several resident committees and helps organize activities and opportunities for connection throughout the year. She also plays an important role in coordinating birthday celebrations, farewell gatherings, memorial services, and card and board game activities for fellow residents.
Arlene credits Bethany employees and the strong sense of community within the building for helping residents feel informed, safe, and supported as they age in place.
Thank you, Arlene, and all our seniors, for helping create caring communities where everyone feels welcome, connected, and valued.
