When homelessness remains hidden, it is harder to address.

Many women and gender-diverse people experiencing homelessness are never counted in official data.
To stay safe, many rely on survival strategies like couch surfing, staying in abusive relationships, sleeping in vehicles, or trading s*x for shelter. Women, children, and gender-diverse people face increased risks of violence, illness, isolation, poverty, and trauma—and those harms can continue across generations.

In the latest episode of Let’s Talk Poverty, we sit down with Lana Bentley (’s Centre of Calgary) and Heather Morley ( from the Cold) to discuss the findings of the Unaddressed report.

At Trico Centre, we believe in the power of community.

We’re proud to partner with the Women's Centre of Calgary, an organization that supports hundreds of women every day through life’s challenges - offering a safe space, essential resources, and a strong sense of belonging.

Through this partnership, Trico Centre has donated three weekly summer camps to families in need, helping create opportunities for children to learn, play, and thrive. While the families remain anonymous, the impact is real - and it matters.

The Women’s Centre of Calgary continues to do incredible work supporting women facing barriers such as poverty, isolation, and life transitions, while advocating for meaningful systemic change.

We’re honoured to play a small role in supporting their mission and strengthening our community together.

Our inclusive, low-barrier programs are made possible by a dedicated team, volunteers, and supporters. Please join us in reflecting on another busy and impactful year.

Congratulations to Jackie Mattock-Howard, the new Chair of the Women’s Centre of Calgary, Board of Directors.

Jackie is a proud Calgarian with 30+ years’ experience in fundraising and the nonprofit sector. She has served as a Vice President, Resource Development, Principal gifts, and as a consultant. More recently, she has worked in area of innovation and lead the development of a non-profit business start-up. Jackie believes creativity, innovation and empathy are key to addressing complex social issues in our community.

We look forward to working with Jackie as we realize our vision of “Communities empowering women. Women empowering communities.”

We’re accepting new and gently used clothing and accessories for our Back-to-School Clothing Swap from July 14 – August 5. Drop off your donations during open hours and help girls in our community head back to school with confidence.
