📍 Another busy Saturday in Cambridge!

Mayor Jan hosted her 13th Pop-Up Mayor event of 2026 at the Cambridge Farmers’ Market Thanksgiving Market, continuing a tradition of connecting directly with residents, listening to their feedback, and discussing the issues that matter most to our community.

Mayor Jan also had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of the long-awaited Esso Diva gas station in Hespeler, celebrating this new addition to the neighbourhood alongside community members and business representatives.

Mayor Jan Liggett was pleased to join CEO Hendrik Desch, the Consul General of Germany, and the DESCH Canada team today in celebrating an incredible milestone: 40 years in The City of Cambridge 🎉

Over the past four decades, DESCH Canada has grown into a leader in advanced manufacturing, contributing to our local economy through innovation, investment, and job creation. The City of Cambridge is proud to recognize this achievement and the many employees, partners, and supporters who have been part of the journey.

Congratulations to Hendrik, the leadership team, and everyone at DESCH Canada on 40 outstanding years. We look forward to many more years of success together.

Mayor Jan was pleased to attend this year’s 50+ Active Living Fair and celebrate the vitality, experience, and contributions of older adults in our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended, exhibited, presented, and volunteered, as well as our City staff and community partners who helped create a welcoming and informative event. We are proud to support opportunities that keep residents connected, active, and engaged.

Another great weekend of community celebrations for Mayor Liggett! 🎉

Mayor Liggett helped kick off Oktoberfest at The Prostgarten in the Gaslight District, joining residents and visitors in celebrating one of the Region’s favourite traditions K-W Oktoberfest The event brought people together to enjoy German heritage, community spirit, great food, refreshments, and live entertainment. 🍻
Mayor Liggett also attended the grand opening of Smarty Pants Montessori Smarty Pants Montessori , congratulating the owners, educators, staff, and families on this exciting milestone. The new centre helps address the growing need for childcare and early childhood education in Cambridge. A fun fact shared during the celebration: the name Smarty Pants Montessori was chosen by the owners’ young son! 📚✨

The weekend wrapped up with Salsa on Main Street in Downtown Galt, where more than 150 people came out to enjoy music, dancing, and a lively evening in the heart of the community. 💃🕺

Thank you to all the businesses, organizations, volunteers, and residents who continue to make Cambridge such a vibrant and welcoming community.

Mayor Jan Liggett was proud to join Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the CMH_Foundation to celebrate the completion of the Emergency Department Mental Health Safe Room enhancements.

Supported by a $300,000 investment from the City of Cambridge, the project includes renovations to two existing Safe Rooms and the addition of a third dedicated space for individuals experiencing a mental health or addiction-related crisis.

Mayor Liggett stated that “Mental health crises affect families across our community, including my own. Having helped loved ones navigate these situations, I know that access to safe, appropriate care in those critical moments can make a meaningful difference. We are proud to continue working with Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the Foundation to strengthen the care available in Cambridge and to make investments that help our people when they need it most.”

The specialized Safe Rooms help provide increased safety for patients, visitors, and staff while ensuring those experiencing a mental health emergency can access dedicated, specialized care in a supportive environment.

Thank you to the dedicated teams at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the CMH Foundation for their continued commitment to strengthening mental health care in our community. 💙

Ontario Skilled Trades Open House, Cambridge Firehouse Open House, Doors Open, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Gala, Kinbridge Newcomer Connections Picnic, Pride Signs Rebrand launch, Armenian Heritage Festival, Decoration Day, St. Patrick Church BBQ... each stop was a reminder of the passion, dedication, and community spirit that make Cambridge such a remarkable city.

Mayor Jan Liggett joined Saint Luke’s Place to celebrate the groundbreaking of its new long-term care building. This significant expansion will increase capacity to 192 modern beds, helping meet the growing needs of seniors and families in Cambridge.

The project reflects a shared commitment to providing seniors with compassionate, high-quality care in a safe and supportive environment close to home. Mayor Jan congratulates Saint Luke’s Place, its leadership, staff, supporters, volunteers and partners for reaching this important milestone and looks forward to the lasting impact this investment will have on the community.
