As our community continues to grow, so does the need for a stronger, more coordinated mental health and addictions system. We're calling for provincial action to:
✅ Fund transitional care services
✅ Expand youth mental health supports
✅ Develop a health-led framework for stabilization, treatment and recovery

Together, we can reduce pressure on hospitals, improve access to care, and help more people get the support they need, when they need it.

Today, Ontario’s Big City Mayors officially launched the – Reaction to Recovery campaign, urging the Province to take bold action on the addictions, mental health, and homelessness crisis facing communities across Ontario.

Mayor Jan Liggett proudly seconded the motion, advocating for increased access to recovery-based treatment, compassionate intervention, and a dedicated and appropriately funded ministry to address this crisis.

As the The City of Cambridge continues its advocacy at the Conference this week, we will continue pushing for the investments and partnerships needed to help people get the care and support they deserve.

“This is about families being kept whole; families that feel that their loved ones have the care they deserve.” – Mayor Jan Liggett

Mayor Jan had the opportunity to meet Sarah and Tanya from the Dragonflyers.Waterloo Dragon Boat Team.

The Dragonflyers are a remarkable group of breast cancer survivors from Waterloo Region and surrounding communities who are preparing to represent Canada at the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission Festival in Aix-les-Bains, France, this month. Their journey is a powerful example of resilience, friendship, and determination.
Sarah and Tanya stopped by to pick up City of Cambridge pins and Mayor Jan’s custom ZED pins ( ) to share abroad as they proudly represent our community on the international stage. We wish the entire Dragonflyers team safe travels and success in France! 🚣‍♀️
