Dawn Centre is a non-profit, Christian organization that offers excellent, compassionate care to individuals experiencing an unintended pregnancy and/or sexual health related concerns. We focus on whole person care, which means we are here to support you in your emotional, physical, relational and spiritual wellness. Having access to healthcare services is important. Having access to healthcare services paired with ongoing support can make all the difference.

At the Dawn Centre, our nurses provide pregnancy testing, STI testing and treatment, and sexual health education in a compassionate and supportive environment.

For someone taking a pregnancy test, the appointment is often about more than receiving a result. It can also be an opportunity to ask questions, access medically accurate information, and talk through what comes next.

Similarly, STI testing and treatment appointments can provide not only healthcare support, but also education and information that helps individuals better understand their sexual health and wellness.

We believe care is most effective when people feel informed, supported, and treated as whole people.

Sometimes people hesitate to reach out because they feel like they should already have everything figured out.

At the Dawn Centre, we believe care should meet people as whole people — not just focusing on one problem or one appointment, but recognizing that physical, emotional, relational, and practical challenges are often deeply connected.

That’s why support can look different for everyone.

For some, support may look like receiving medically accurate information. For others, it may look like practical help, community resources, or simply having someone who will listen with compassion and care.

It’s the constant mental load of trying to hold everything together at once.

The appointments.
The finances.
The parenting.
The emotions.
The pressure to keep going even when you’re exhausted.

At the Dawn Centre, we want people to know that support can look practical too.
Sometimes that looks like baby supplies or maternity items through our Care Closet. Sometimes it looks like learning about community resources available to you. And sometimes it simply looks like having someone who will listen without judgment.

The conversations.

The uncertainty.
The fear of disappointing people.
The pressure to suddenly know exactly what to do.

At the Dawn Centre, we meet people in all kinds of situations, feeling all kinds of emotions about their positive pregnancy test. Some feel scared. Some feel anxious. Some don’t know what they feel yet.

That’s okay.

You do not need to walk in with a plan already made or all the answers figured out.

Our hope is simply to provide a space where people can ask questions, receive medically accurate information, and talk honestly about what they’re facing while being met with compassionate support.

Sometimes having someone to talk to can make all the difference.

This National Nursing Week, we’re reflecting on the many ways nurses shape the experiences people have with healthcare.

Often, it’s the small moments that stay with someone most — being listened to without judgment, having questions answered with patience, or feeling supported during an uncertain time.

At the Dawn Centre, our nurses bring clinical knowledge and skill to their work every day, but they also bring empathy, reassurance, and humanity to each interaction. Their care helps create an environment where people can feel safe, respected, and supported no matter where they are in their journey.

We are deeply grateful for all they do for our community, and for the compassion they bring into every conversation and every appointment. 💛
