"I hope you all are having a great summer break.
I am really thankful that you have given me an opportunity to learn and get hands on training in aircraft maintenance. I appreciate your guidance and training during my cadet training which has helped me to perform during this course and you will be happy to know that I was awarded the top scholar award for having the highest marks on the course, an award I shared with another cadet.
I would like to share my overall experience and some activities that I got to do on course.
I had a very positive experience and made many memories; with it I got to learn about aircraft in a deeper and effective manner. The living quarters on base that I stayed in were excellent since they were air conditioned and had a lounge area for downtime with the base itself offering a CANEX, a gym, and a pool all in close proximity.
The course itself was taught at Canadore College at their Aviation Campus at the Jack Garland Airport with all of them having real world experience working in aircraft maintenance. On course I got work with many new tools and learned skills like lock wiring bolts, using a torque wrench, fire safety practices, preventative maintenance, aircraft components and systems, and much more useful knowledge.
On base I got a chance to meet with the Royal Air Force Red Arrows due to them stopping North Bay for refueling and rest, we visited the NORAD facility and met the 22 Wing commander Col. Guilbeault, we also visited the nearby Voyageur Aviation Maintenance Hangar. On my course I got to meet cadets from all over Canada with there being 20 cadets in total with 1 from Nova Scotia, 1 from British Columbia, 2 from Alberta, 6 from Quebec, and 10 including myself from Ontario.
