Strathcona Regional District - Strathcona Gardens A multi-use recreation facility in the City of Campbell River operated by the Strathcona Regional District. Home of the Rod Brind'Amour Arena.

The Strathcona Regional District is the government body providing services to over 48,000 residents within north central Vancouver Island, Discovery Islands and mainland area inlets, representing four electoral areas, a First Nation community and five member municipalities. The SRD is governed by a 14-member Board of Directors comprised of elected representatives from the City of Campbell River, Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k:tles7et'h' First Nations, the Villages of Gold River, Sayward, Tahsis and Zeballos, and the four unincorporated electoral areas (Kyuquot/Nootka-Sayward, Cortes Island, Discovery Islands-Mainland Inlets, and Oyster Bay-Buttle Lake). The Strathcona Regional District respectfully acknowledges that its corporate office and Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex are located on the traditional unceded territory of the Ligสทiล‚daxฬŒสท people. It is also recognized that the SRD operates within the traditional, treaty and unceded territories of the Ehattesaht / Chinehkint, Homalco, Ka:'yu:'k't'h' / Che: k'tles7et'hโ€™, Klahoose, Kโ€™รณmoks, Kwiakah, Mowachaht / Muchalaht, Nuchatlaht, Tlaโ€™amin, Tlowitsis, We Wai Kai and Wei Wai Kum First Nations. ๐Ÿ“… When can I register?

Our first limited offering of pre-booked swims runs from Thursday, October 29 to Sunday, November 1.

Registration opens 8 days in advance, so set your reminders! You can register starting Wednesday, October 21 at 6 p.m. for our first Fun Swim on Thursday, October 29 at 6 p.m.

โ“What is the difference between Fun, Family and Length Swims?

FAMILY SWIM - Caregivers must be in the water with children ages 0-15. Swim is in the Leisure Pool, the Main Pool may be open if space allows.

FUN SWIM - A lively swim with all pools open with the diving board, lazy river, and climbing wall. All ages. Children ages 0-7 must be within arms reach of an adult caregiver.

๐ŸŒŠ What can I look forward to?

Our waterslide is still undergoing final plumbing and inspections. We hope to have it ready for you to enjoy in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! Our Fun Swims will still have lots of water entertainment for your kids with the climbing wall, lazy river, diving board and Wibit floating obstacle course.

Our full schedule of pre-registered drop-in swims begins Monday, November 2, we'll post the schedule in the next few days.

Our new temporary pool reception desk inside the Aquatic Centre will open before October 29.

We have some schedule changes for drop-in skating on our Arenas coming up this Friday & Saturday due to the Campbell River Old Timers hockey tournament.

๐Ÿ”นFriday, October 23: It is also an SD72 Pro-D Day so our staff are busy with our Pond Hockey Tournament (srd.ca/camps) and there will only be a Leisure Skate from 3pm to 4:55pm. All other drop-in programs are cancelled that day.

๐Ÿ”นSaturday, October 24: Leisure Skate only from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Pond Hockey & Everyone Welcome skating on Arena 2 are cancelled.

Its time to start on the next phase of construction of our new Aquatic & Wellness Centre! We have a brand new fitness centre, wellness centre, gendered change rooms, reception desk, and meeting rooms coming in Summer 2027! Visit recreatesg.ca to see the design plans.

โ–ถ๏ธArena and Studio/Outdoor Fitness patrons can still access our front reception desk through our Arena or Pinecrest Road entrance doors.

โ–ถ๏ธA temporary pool reception desk will be open inside the new Aquatic Centre by the end of next week for pre-registered swimming and aquatic fitness classes.

Noticed the foggy glass on Arena 1 lately? Good news! We are planning to complete the replacement of the Arena 1 dehumidifier on October 19โ€“21.

We will do our best to accommodate all user groups and minimize disruptions wherever possible. However, we ask that everyone be prepared for some temporary inconvenience during these three days as there will be no dehumidification on Arena 1 while work is underway.

This dehumidifier replacement is an important facility upgrade, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation while we complete the work.

We love weekend game days, but we need everyoneโ€™s help keeping our arena safe!
Lately, we've had serious safety concerns regarding unsupervised childrenโ€”including kids climbing on nets and railings, riding scooters in the lobby, and collisions in the hallway from children running.

A quick reminder for all parents:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Keep Kids Within View: Parents and guardians are responsible for watching their children at all times while in the building.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Respect the facility: Hallways and stairs are high-traffic areas. Running, climbing on railings, or playing on equipment leads to dangerous accidents.
๐Ÿ‘‰ No wheels inside: Scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades belong outside.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Certified service animals only: Please leave family pets at home.

Our goal is to prevent injuries and protect our equipment so everyone can enjoy the season. Please help us by watching your kids when you're here.

๐ŸŽฌFriday, Oct 9 - We'll be playing the movie "Hoppers" on our Leisure Ice big screen. 5:15pm to 8pm, $7 admission includes Little Caesars pizza and a juice box.

โ›ธ Saturday, Oct 10 - Thanksgiving Ice Fest, during our Everyone Welcome & Pond Hockey session from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. We have all kinds of pumpkin games and some fantastic prizes to be won. Regular drop-in admission.
