On September 12, Denise and Russell joined some friends for the season opener of Rose City Roots Music Society. Sweet Alibi took the stage and hearing their guitars and vocals in such a small setting was a real treat. Denise described their voices as “quite angelic” and it was a lovely way to start the season.

Rose City Roots began with people gathering in living rooms to enjoy live music together. Now in its 20th season it’s grown into a program that brings artists and music lovers together right here in Camrose. That’s something worth supporting.

We’re happy to sponsor the 2026/27 season and can’t wait to hear the other artists coming our way. Follow Rose City Roots Music Society to see who’s playing next and plan a night out with a few friends.

Denise was happy to connect with Donna Robitaille in support of Ohaton Ladies Night. It’s their major fundraiser of the year with funds going to the recreation association and its work in the community.

Whether it’s time at the rink, a gathering at the hall or an evening at the ball diamonds these places give neighbours a reason to get together. Supporting local recreation helps keep those connections strong in a small community like Ohaton.

As a locally owned Alberta business we’re glad to lend a hand. Thanks to Donna and everyone helping with Ohaton Ladies Night for putting their time and care into their community.

Our Camrose Energy office is closed today, September 30, 2026, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today we honour the children who never came home from residential schools, the Survivors and their families and communities. It’s a time to listen to Indigenous voices and learn about the harm residential schools caused and the effects still felt today.

Here in Camrose the Truth and Reconciliation Day Walk takes place at Mirror Lake at 5 PM. If you’re looking for a way to take part locally you can find the details on the walk’s event page.

You can also visit Augustana Campus where thousands of orange flags honour the lives lost and affected by the residential school system. Signs identify residential schools that operated within 500 km of campus and share the university’s commitments to reconciliation. The installation is open to everyone until October 2 offering a place to pause, learn and remember.

Wherever you call home in Alberta we encourage you to check with your community for gatherings and learning opportunities open to the public. If you’re taking part from home APTN shares ways to honour the day online. There’s learning we can each make time for today and carry into the days ahead.

It's a beautiful fall day in downtown Camrose and that's a great time to grab a coffee and stop into a few shops while you're out. Those everyday purchases help local businesses keep their doors open and provide jobs close to home.

We're grateful to all of our customers who choose small and local businesses, including Camrose Energy. As a local Camrose owned and operated company we know there are people and families behind every small business.

Thanks for supporting your neighbours and helping our communities thrive!
