What an incredible example of what can happen when a community comes together.

Last week, Denise had the pleasure of presenting a donation cheque to Mr. Bailey and Jason Silbernagel, President of the Charlie Killam Music Parents Association, as part of the instrument replacement fundraiser for the École Charlie Killam band program.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who donated through the GoFundMe campaign and through direct donations. The support this fundraiser has received has been amazing to see, and it’s a reflection of just how much this community values music, education, and the opportunities this program creates for local kids.

We also want to thank our customers. The Community Connections Program is only possible because Albertans choose Camrose Energy as their local utility provider. Every customer who trusts us with their electricity, natural gas, or Solar Club™ account helps make projects like this possible, and we’re incredibly grateful for that support.

Most importantly, we want to thank Mr. Bailey. For more than four decades, he has helped generations of students discover a love of music, build confidence, make friendships, and create memories that have lasted a lifetime. It’s because of the impact he’s had on this community that the matching goal was reached so quickly.

Thanks to the generosity of this community, new instruments will be in the hands of students this September.

The fundraiser is still ongoing, and there’s still an opportunity to help replace additional instruments and keep music alive for local kids.

We were proud to support the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary through our Community Connections program with a recent donation presented by Denise.

This support will go toward additional seating and an all weather sheltered area where visitors can gather, connect with each other and with nature, all while observing the wolfdogs. It’s the kind of project that makes a visit even more meaningful and helps create more space for people to slow down, learn, and take it all in.

We always appreciate the chance to support projects that bring people together and help strengthen the communities and organizations doing good work across Alberta. This one is a pretty special one.

Last week, while the rain was coming down and the weather had turned a little cool, Maurina was keeping busy the old fashioned way. Her fingers were flying as she worked through around 60 new applications sent over from a property management company we work with.

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to keep things moving, and this was one of those days where the work just kept coming. Maurina handled it like she always does, steady, focused, and getting it done.

We’re really thankful to be able to provide utility services to so many people in our communities. Whether it’s one new location or a whole long list of them, it means a lot to us to be trusted with that work.

If you’ve been thinking about making the switch or just want to learn a little more about what we do, you can visit us at www.camroseenergy.com.

The Eco Solar Home Tour is just one week away, and if solar, heat pumps, or energy efficient living has been on your mind, this is a great chance to learn a little more.

Camrose Energy is proud to be a sponsor again this year, and we always enjoy seeing people get the chance to hear directly from homeowners who’ve already gone through the process. You get the real story. What worked, what surprised them, what they’d do again, and what they might do differently.

The Edmonton tour takes place June 13 and 14, and the Calgary tour follows on June 20 and 21. Homeowners will be opening their doors to share their experience with solar, heat pumps, and building more energy efficient homes. It’s a really good way to see what all of this can look like in real life, not just on paper.

And if questions come up along the way, that’s where we come in. At Camrose Energy, we’re proud to be local solar experts and proud providers of the Solar Club™. If the tour gets you thinking a little more seriously about solar, feel free to give us a call at (780) 781-4115. We’re always happy to talk things through and help you make sense of your options and we love to talk solar!

Did you know your utility bills can help build community?

When you choose Camrose Energy for your electricity, natural gas, or Solar Club™ service, you’re helping support local projects through our Community Connections Program.

That support helps us chip in when good things are happening close to home, like helping keep music alive for local kids.

If you’ve been thinking about switching to a local utility provider, we’d love to hear from you. Give us a call at (780) 781-4115 or visit www.camroseenergy.com.

There’s something pretty special about a music room.

For some kids, it starts with Hot Cross Buns and a squeaky first note. For others, it becomes the place where they finally feel like they fit. A place to try, to learn, to laugh a little, and to be part of something with other kids who are figuring it out too.

That’s what Mr. Bailey has helped build for so many students over the years. Not just a band program, but a place where kids can belong.

That’s also why this fundraiser means so much to us. Through our Community Connections Program, Camrose Energy is matching donations up to $10,000 to help replace older school instruments for the École Charlie Killam School band program. Some of the instruments being used are now beyond repair, and some even date back to the 1940s.

We’re so excited to be part of this project, and honestly, we’re pretty proud of how this community has already stepped up to support it. It says a lot about Camrose, and it says a lot about the mark Mr. Bailey has left on so many families.

If you’d like to help keep this music program going for the next group of students, you can donate here:

We’d also love to hear your favourite memory from Mr. Bailey’s music class. Maybe it was a class trip, your first concert, learning an instrument you never thought you’d play, finding a group of friends, or just a kind word that stuck with you.

Whatever it is, share it in the comments. We think those stories are a pretty big part of what this fundraiser is really about.

Denise and Cameron have been taking in a lot over the last few days. Lots of good conversations, lots of new people, and definitely lots to think about on the drive home.

It’s always good to get out of the usual routine once in a while and hear what other people are doing, what’s working for them, and what ideas are worth bringing back with you. Some of it confirms what you already believe. Some of it gives you a fresh way to look at things.

That’s a big part of why this kind of event matters. We’re always trying to learn, keep growing, and find better ways to connect with the people and communities we serve. Not in a flashy way. Just in a real, practical way that helps us do our jobs a little better.

It’s been a really good few days, and we’re looking forward to bringing some of that energy back home with us.

In honour of Mr. Bailey’s incredible and enduring legacy of instilling a love of music across generations, Camrose Energy is so proud and honoured to be a part of helping support the École Charlie Killam School band program and the students who will follow in the footsteps of so many before them.

For more than 40 years, Mr. Bailey has helped build not just musicians, but confidence, friendships, memories, and community. Tonight, as students take the stage for his final student concert at the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre, we wanted to help celebrate the impact he has had on countless kids and families throughout Camrose.

Many of the instruments currently being used in the program are now beyond repair, with some dating back to the 1940s. Through our Community Connections Program, Camrose Energy will match donations toward new instruments up to $10,000 to help keep this incredible program going for future students.

Thank you, Mr. Bailey, for everything you’ve given to this community through music.
