Development Cost Charge Bylaw Information Session

The Village of Canal Flats is in the process of updating its Development Cost Charge Bylaw (DCC). As part of this work, the Village will be hosting a virtual information session on September 3rd at 5:00pm. Thinking about running for local office? Get the real story first.

On Wednesday, August 26, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, a panel of past and outgoing elected officials will share what serving in local government actually involves: the time, the pay, the impact on family and work, and what they wish someone had told them before their first campaign.

Free and open to anyone in the East Kootenay curious about running for council, mayor, or electoral area director this October. Attending doesn't commit you to anything. A virtual option is available.

Local General Election

Nomination packages are now available to be picked up at the Village office. Electronic versions are also available by request from the Chief Election Officer at [email protected].

The Nomination Period begins Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 9:00am, ending Friday, September 11, 2026 at 4:00pm.

The Village of Canal Flats is accepting sealed bids for the purchase of a used shed previously located at the arena.
The shed measures 8 ft. by 12 ft. for a total of 96 square feet. It has a 54-inch-wide door, a shingled roof, and is mounted on skids. The shed is in good condition.
Interested parties must submit their bid price in a sealed envelope to the Village office at 8866 Grainger Road before 2:00 p.m. on August 19.
