Attention Residents: Gas Line Inspections Taking Place This Month

SaskEnergy and TransGas will be conducting routine natural gas line safety tests and leak inspections in the Resort Village area throughout September 2026.

What you need to know:
• Who to look for: You may see SaskEnergy personnel or qualified Field Representatives traveling in marked vehicles, wearing high-visibility clothing, and carrying official ID.
• What they are doing: Workers will use vehicle-mounted and handheld equipment to test above and below-ground infrastructure.
• No action required: Homeowners and landowners do not need to do anything, and there is no need for direct contact. You will not receive a notification before the specific day they inspect your property.

As a reminder, all natural gas in the system is odorized for your safety. If you ever suspect the smell of natural gas, leave the area immediately and call SaskEnergy’s 24-hour emergency line at 1-888-7000-GAS (427).

It’s Age Friendly Friday! What makes Candle Lake an Age Friendly community?

An age-friendly community is one that adapts its structures, services, and social environments to support healthy, active, and independent aging.

Age-friendly local services and supports available in Candle Lake include:
• Health Centre with a part-time Physician and full-time Nurse Practitioner
• Social Prescribing Program and a Community Connector
• Foot care nurse who provides in-home care
• Medical First Responders and volunteer Fire Department led by an experienced Fire Chief
• Community Safety Officers who work closely with the RCMP
• AEDs in various locations
• Candle Lake Library, a branch of the Wapiti Library system.
• Candle Lite Slimmers, a supportive group focused on healthy living and encouragement

♻️ Labour Day Weekend Reminders at Candle Lake!

With the Labour Day long weekend coming up, here are a few important reminders for residents:

🗑️ FREE LANDFILL WEEKEND – September 5–7
Candle Lake residents can bring one free household load to the RVCL Landfill on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Hours are 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., closed from 12:00–12:30 p.m. Household use only.

🏢 RVCL OFFICE CLOSED – Monday, September 7
The office will reopen Tuesday, September 8.

🚛 STREETSIDE WASTE COLLECTION
Monday's collection will move to Tuesday, September 8. All other collection remains regularly scheduled.

🍂 CURBSIDE YARD WASTE PICKUP – September 8–11
Please have your yard waste out by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8. There is no set pickup day for individual residential subdivisions.

🎬 Thank You for a Great Drive-In Movie Night! 🍿

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Sport, Culture & Recreation Drive-In Movie on Friday night! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

A special thank you to the Candle Lake Chamber of Commerce for organizing and running the canteen, and to our amazing Lake Life Volunteers for helping make the evening such a success.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to SUMAssure and Sask Lotteries for their support in helping us bring this Drive-In Movie experience to Candle Lake. We greatly appreciate their support of recreation and community events in our community!

It was a wonderful night to gather as a community and a great way to wrap up an amazing summer break at Candle Lake!

Thank you for spending your Friday night with us, and we hope to see you at another community event soon!

A huge shoutout to our Public Works summer students for all their hard work this season! 👏

Their efforts have made a visible difference throughout Candle Lake. From mowing and trimming to maintaining parks, trails and other public spaces, they have helped keep our community looking its best during the busiest time of the year.

This week, the crew enjoyed a well-earned break at JD’s Ice Cream in appreciation of their hard work and positive attitudes.

Thank you for everything you have contributed this summer. Your dedication, teamwork and willingness to take on whatever needed to be done have been greatly appreciated. We wish you all the best as you return to school and begin your next adventures!
