October 4 marks Sisters in Spirit Day, a day to honour Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people who have been taken from their families and communities through violence, those who remain missing, and the families and communities who continue to carry their absence.

Behind every name, photograph and story is a person who is deeply loved, whose life matters, and whose family deserves to be heard, supported and treated with dignity.

Today, the Blood Tribe Police Service recognizes the strength of families, Survivors and communities who continue to remember their loved ones, seek answers and advocate for change. We honour the courage it takes to continue speaking their names, sharing their stories and keeping their memories alive.

As a police service, we recognize our responsibility to respond with care, respect, urgency and compassion when someone is reported missing or at risk. Every person matters. Every family deserves to be listened to. Every missing person deserves to be searched for, and every investigation deserves to be approached with dignity and care.

Today, we remember those who are missing and those who have been lost. We stand alongside their families and communities, honour their voices, and remain committed to listening, learning and strengthening the relationships and practices that help keep Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people safe.

Their lives matter. Their stories matter. Their families matter.
If you or someone you know needs confidential, 24-hour emotional support related to missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people, the National Crisis Line is available at 1-844-413-6649.

Today, Blood Tribe Police Service proudly recognizes Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

September 30 is a day to honour and remember the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to live with the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

Wearing orange is a symbol of remembrance, respect, and our shared responsibility to listen, learn, and continue the work of reconciliation. It is also a reminder that every child deserves to be valued, protected, and heard.

As members of the Blood Tribe community, we stand together in reflection and recognition of the strength, resilience, and voices of Survivors, families, and generations impacted.
