โ˜• A great start to September!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for our September Coffee & Conversation. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, make some new connections, and enjoy a relaxed morning of conversation with our local business community.

A big thank you to Kristy and the team at Spill the Tea Cafe for welcoming us into your space and taking such great care of everyone!

We appreciate everyone who came out and helped make the morning such a great one. ๐Ÿ’š

A little Friday appreciation post. ๐Ÿ’š

We spend a lot of time telling you whatโ€™s coming up, what you can register for, where you can get involved and, yes, occasionally asking you for something.

Today, we just want to say thank you.

To every business and organization that chooses to be a member of the Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce โ€” we appreciate you.

Your membership supports more than events and networking. It helps us advocate for our local business community, share resources and opportunities, celebrate local success, welcome visitors, build connections and keep working toward a stronger business community across Carleton Place, Beckwith and Mississippi Mills.

Some of you come to everything. Some of you participate when you can. Some of you quietly support the Chamber year after year.

It all matters.

Thank you for being part of this community and for trusting us to represent and support you. Weโ€™re very glad youโ€™re here. ๐Ÿ’š

Now comes the part where we need your help! ๐Ÿ‘€

With more than 140 golfers joining us on September 18, we still need quite a few more prizes to make sure we have a great selection on tournament day.

You donโ€™t need to go over the top. Gift certificates, products, services, experiences, gift baskets and other useful or fun items are all welcome. And if your business is in a position to contribute a larger-value prize or silent auction item, those are especially helpful too.

The Chamber Golf Classic is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the support of our business community is a big part of what makes it successful.

Can you help us add something else to the table? ๐ŸŽ

Email your prize offering to [email protected] or [email protected] and weโ€™ll take it from there.

Today, Daniel Tisch, ICD.D, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement on the federal governmentโ€™s new measures to support businesses and workers affected by U.S. trade actions:

โ€œOntario businesses are under extraordinary pressure, and todayโ€™s federal relief announcement recognizes the real impacts that illegal U.S. tariffs are having on businesses, workers, and communities across Canada.

โ€œExpanded support through regional development agencies, new BDC financing, enhanced workforce retention measures, and additional assistance for both large employers and SMEs will provide welcome relief during a period of continued disruption.

โ€œWhat matters now is ex*****on. These programs need to be accessible, responsive, and delivered quickly so businesses can focus on protecting jobs, serving customers, and planning for the future.

โ€œBusinesses recognize the need for a strategic response to U.S. trade actions, but any countermeasures must be carefully calibrated and developed in consultation with industry. Canada cannot afford measures that do long-term harm to our own companies, workers, or supply chains.

โ€œBeyond immediate measures, Canada must use this moment to fix the fundamentals: pursue pro-growth tax reform, reduce red tape, continue modernizing Employment Insurance, remove internal trade barriers, and strengthen the conditions for investment, productivity, and growth.

โ€œThat is how we build long-term prosperity: by creating an economy where businesses can invest, innovate, and compete with confidence.โ€

๐Ÿ’ฐ Hired a post-secondary student this summer? You may still be eligible for up to $5,000 in wage subsidy support!

Through the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), employers who had an eligible post-secondary student on payroll between May 1 and August 31, 2026 may be able to access funding โ€” but Summer applications are closing soon.

Funding is reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, so this is one opportunity you donโ€™t want sitting on the to-do list.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn more and apply through Magnet.

Summer session applications are still open! If you hired an eligible post-secondary student between May 1 and August 31, 2026 you could receive up to $5000.00 in funding! See the SWPP website (swpprogram.ca) and attend the webinar tomorrow, 1:00 PM ET for details: https://lnkd.in/gg6Qecyi
