Yesterday, Carstairs Fire, alongside Didsbury Fire, battled a wildland fire that spread rapidly due to strong winds.
Thankfully, no people or animals were harmed, and no structures were lost.
A huge thank-you to the firefighters who worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to protect our communities and keep everyone safe!

Our hearts are with those affected by today's tragedy

What began as an ordinary afternoon ended in tragedy when a collision and fire involving two Calgary Transit buses claimed three lives and left at least 10 others injured. A Calgary Police officer was also injured while responding to the emergency.

Behind every life lost is a family, friends and loved ones whose lives have been forever changed. Our deepest condolences go out to those grieving this unimaginable loss, and our thoughts are with everyone injured and recovering.

Tragedies like this remind us how unexpectedly life can change. No one begins their day expecting something like this to happen, and our hearts are with everyone facing the difficult days ahead.

Your Calgary firefighters were there alongside our emergency response partners to help those in need. Today, our thoughts remain with the passengers, transit operators and families affected by this tragedy.

To those grieving, those recovering and everyone whose lives have been changed, please know that your Calgary firefighters stand with you.
