Recycling Changes Are Coming to Carstairs!
Starting October 1, 2026, Alberta’s enhanced recycling system will expand the list of packaging and paper products accepted for recycling across the province.
For residents of Carstairs, this means you may soon be able to recycle more of the items you use every day, including:
- Certain glass containers
- Foam packaging
- Flexible plastics
- Empty aerosol containers
- Laminated packaging
…and more!
Important: Please wait until October 1 before placing any newly accepted materials in your recycling. If an item wasn’t accepted in your local recycling program before, you were right not to recycle it. The accepted list is changing as Alberta’s new recycling system rolls out.
