🐎 Hands-on learning with a true trade expert! 🛠️🔥

Our High School Rodeo Academy students had an unforgettable experience with guest farrier Kenny Gimlett!

Kenny brought his full blacksmith truck and mobile forge right to the school, giving our students an incredible live demonstration on Mr. Gardner’s horse, Ginger. From proper hoof care and trimming techniques to forging a custom horseshoe on the spot, Kenny walked our students through every step of the craft.

Having trained in BC and completed his formal Farrier Training at Olds College, Kenny brings over 12 years of trade experience—including competing at prestigious events like Spruce Meadows!

A huge thank you to Kenny for sharing his passion, expertise, and time with our future rodeo stars! And of course, a special shoutout to Ginger for being the ultimate star patient and model horse 🐴⭐

🌾✨ Our students spent an incredible day exploring the Olds College Open House earlier in October!
From checking out the high-tech Smart Farm and touring the hands-on VTA (Veterinary Technical Assistant) labs to taking in the beautiful green spaces and saving on application fees, it was a fantastic look into future career paths! 🚜🐾

🕵️‍♂️ Big thanks to Constable Walkey for visiting our Code Breakers option class! Our students had a fantastic time asking questions, learning about law enforcement, and getting a hands-on look at how fingerprints are lifted and analyzed. 🤠 RODEO ACADEMY SPOTLIGHT: KASHLEY SEITZ 🤠

The HSS Rodeo Academy was honored to welcome back Canadian professional breakaway roper Kashley Seitz for the second year in a row!

Kashley spent time inspiring our students with her incredible journey as a cowgirl, including:
✨ 6-time National High School Rodeo Finals qualifier

🏆 2-time Canadian High School Finals Rodeo All-Around Champion

🏆 National High School Finals Rodeo All-Around Champion

4 years riding pro for the CPRA, qualifying for the Calgary Stampede & finishing 11th in Canada in the Maple Leaf Circuit (2024)

🎓 B.S. in Equine Science & Nutrition from Texas Tech (currently with Coulee Equine)

After sharing her story and expertise, Kashley took our students outside for some hands-on ground roping practice on the dummy!

And the best part? This is only Part 1! 🐴 Kashley will be back later this year with her horse, and our academy students will take a field trip to an arena to watch her roping skills in action!

Thank you so much for sharing your passion and knowledge with our students, Kashley! 🙌
