ASSISTANT WATER SYSTEM OPERATOR

Ootischenia Improvement District (OID) is seeking a part-time to full-time Assistant Water System Operator to assist with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the water system.
Qualifications: Mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
Experience with pumps, motors, piping, or water systems is an asset but not required. Training and required certification support will be provided.
Requirements: On-call availability and occasional weekend work.
Compensation: $29–$31/hour to start, based on experience, with wage increases as training and required certifications are completed.

Thank you to all who have been able to comply with the change to Stage 2 restrictions. We have seen a reduction in consumption from 914,432 gallons on August 11 to 585,728 on August 17. While we expected more of a reduction we have lowered consumption enough to prevent the water level in one of our wells from lowering below the pump intake.
Water levels in all three wells continue to slowly lower as we move through the summer months of very high water consumption. We will continue to adjust as needed to ensure we have water for domestic use until the snow melt of spring 2027.

Effective at noon today, August 12, 2026 Stage 2 water use restrictions are in effect for all OID customers. Odd numbered addresses may follow stage 2 on odd numbered days. Even numbered addresses may follow stage 2 on even numbered days.
The Lower Columbia region has now entered drought level 3 of 5. These restrictions are necessary to protect our diminishing aquifer levels.

For July 2026 the OID delivered 28,610,300 USG for a daily average of 1,810 USG for each connection using water. For July 2025 we delivered 27,406,600 USG for a daily average of 1,768 USG for each connection using water. Each connection used 4.4% more water in July 2026 than in July 2025.
