The pandemic brought to light a significant digital divide. Closures of computer labs and the shift to online learning showed how many students study at Selkirk College without access to reliable technology. More than 15 per cent of all emergency funding applications in 2020-21 noted issues of digital access. Students reported weak internet connectivity leading to classroom crashes and feelings of isolation.

Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising challenge taking place on May 27. It's a day where we are raising money four important causes including supporting digital equity. Join us on Giving Day in building a healthier, happier and more resilient campus.

Selkirk College is pleased to introduce Dianne Biin, our new Manager of Indigenous Education & Engagement!

Arriving to the West Kootenay/Boundary after a decade at Camosun College, she is taking on a new leadership role that will help our institution implement the "Our Journey Together: Indigenization Plan 2019-2024." The plan supports truth, reconciliation, Indigenization and decolonization at by providing a framework to enable a stronger future for all learners and staff.

“Indigenization is about creating a balance in perspectives, technology and practices; it’s not about saying that one is better than the other. Both worldviews and practices can exist harmoniously, it’s up to everyone to make sure that the weaving together continues.”

Burnout. We’re all there. It’s exhausting. The good news? There’s a path through it.

In this episode of I talk to Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski about their book, Burnout.

I’ve been practicing their 7 “complete the stress cycle strategies” since we recorded the podcast and I must say: Total game changer!

HUGE learning for me: Dealing with the STRESSOR is just one part of dealing with burnout. The other part is dealing with the STRESS by completing the stress cycle and getting through that emotions tunnel.
