Central Butte Branch Library Starting March 1st, 2022 - masks will NOT be mandatory, but the library will remain mask friendly.

Founded on April 12, 1972 in Central Butte by Original Branch Librarian Virginia Hemsworth. Virginia retired in 2005 where Sandra Yonge took over as Branch Librarian. When Sandra retired in 2017 Karina Leyton took over and is presently the Branch Librarian.

Incredibly sad news in the book world. 🥀

Today we remember beloved children's author Jane Yolen, whose stories inspired generations of readers.

She taught us How Dinosaurs Say Goodbye, but she never taught us how to say goodbye to such a cherished author. Her imagination, humor, and heart will live on through the countless readers who discovered a love of books in her pages.

Thank you, Jane Yolen, for the stories, the dinosaurs, and the magic.

Calling all Canadian children’s illustrators!

The TD Summer Reading Club is now accepting applications for the 2027 Artist position. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a national bilingual reading program that reaches children and families across Canada through libraries, creativity, and storytelling.

The 2027 theme, “Read the Rhythm,” will explore movement, sound, language, culture, and imagination through vibrant and engaging illustrations.

Contract Duration: August 2026 – August 2027
Location: Remote / Off-site
Application Deadline: June 29, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

We encourage illustrators from diverse backgrounds and communities across Canada to apply.
