If you are between 18 and 30 years of age and of Maltese descent, you may qualify for the Working Holiday Visa for Youth of Maltese Descent. This programme allows you to reside in Malta for up to one year, with the possibility of unlimited renewals until you reach the age of 30, while gaining work experience and engaging with Maltese culture.

The Working Holiday for Youth of Maltese Descent Scheme offers young people of Maltese descent the opportunity to reconnect with their ancestral homeland by living, working and studying in Malta.

✅ Open to persons aged 18–30 of Maltese descent
✅ Eligible applicants may apply for a National D Visa, issued by Identità
✅ Visa validity: 1 year
✅ Opportunity to explore Malta, gain work and study experience, and strengthen family and cultural ties with the country

The scheme has been in effect since 1 January 2026.
