The Board of Directors and staff of the West NB Service Commission (WNBSC) continue to actively advocate with the Province and Horizon Health Network to support the stabilization of healthcare services at the Upper River Valley Hospital (URVH). WNBSC representatives were pleased to receive an update last week on the progress being made to address ongoing challenges at the facility.

The Board of Directors recognizes that rebuilding stable and reliable healthcare services is a process that will take time. However, we are encouraged by the positive steps being taken and the commitment shown by all partners involved. WNBSC will continue to engage with all levels of government and healthcare leadership to promote improved access to healthcare services and the stabilization of URVH.

The Commission acknowledges that meaningful, long-term improvements will require sustained collaboration and advocacy. WNBSC remains committed to working closely with local MLAs, local physicians, and regional stakeholders to lead regional advocacy efforts in support of stable and accessible healthcare services across Western New Brunswick.

Mark your calendar for this critical community conversation on homelessness in the region.

Homelessness is an issue affecting communities across Western New Brunswick — and it’s one that deserves open, respectful, and informed discussion. The Town of Woodstock is hosting two Community Conversation sessions to help residents better understand the current realities of homelessness in our region, hear directly from those working on the front lines, and ask questions in a constructive, welcoming space.

Session #1, Understanding Homelessness in Western NB, will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the McCain Community Theatre (WHS) in Woodstock. A second session, focused on solutions and supports, is tentatively scheduled in March, the date will be confirmed following the first session. Please see the poster link below for full details, including session topics and event logistics.

All residents from municipalities across Western NB are welcome to attend. We encourage you to share this with your friends, family, and community members that may benefit from participating in this important conversation.
