New school year, new routine. πŸ“šβœ¨

As kids head back to school, consider doing a family screen time reset. Setting healthy boundaries around screens can help support learning, sleep, physical activity, and family time.

Try choosing one simple goal this week, such as keeping devices out of bedrooms at night or planning a screen-free family activity.

Healthy habits don't have to be perfect. Small steps can make a big difference.

Getting your child ready to bike to school this fall? 🚴

Whether they're joining a Bike Bus or riding on their own, now is the perfect time to help them build safe riding habits and reduce their risk of falls and injuries!

Before the school year starts:

βœ… Check that their helmet fits properly and is fastened securely
βœ… Make sure tires, brakes, and chains are in good working order
βœ… Practice starting, stopping, signaling, and riding straight
βœ… Reminders to watch for hazards like curbs, gravel, and uneven pavement
βœ… Review safe riding habits and staying aware of surroundings

A quick bike safety check and a little practice can go a long way in preventing falls, building confidence, and helping children enjoy a safe ride to school!

Your voice can help improve OHV safety in Atlantic Canada.

Fatalities and serious injuries related to off-road vehicle use remain a significant concern, despite public awareness campaigns, legislation, and enforcement efforts.

Whether you ride OHVs yourself or have observed others using them, ACIP wants to learn from your experiences. The information collected will help shape strategies to reduce injuries and make OHV use safer for everyone.

πŸ›΄ Falls happen fast. Prevention starts before the ride.

E-scooter injuries are rising across Canada, and many involve head injuries. Knowing the rules of the road is important for everyone's safety!

Before you ride:
βœ” You must be at least 16 years old
βœ” Wear a properly fitted CSA-approved helmet
βœ” Ride solo, no passengers
βœ” Stay visible with lights and reflective clothing
βœ” Use hand signals if your scooter doesn't have turn indicators
βœ” Stay alert and keep your focus on the road, not your phone or headphones
βœ” Watch for pedestrians, intersections, and changing road conditions
βœ” Never ride impaired by alcohol or drugs

Remember: E-scooters are not permitted on sidewalks, the Confederation Trail, or roads with speed limits over 60km/h.

Safer doesn't mean safe. πŸ’¨

Many youth who never would have smoked a cigarette are trying va**ng and becoming addicted to ni****ne.

While va**ng is often seen as a safer alternative to smoking, it still carries risks. Ni****ne and other chemicals found in v**e products can affect lung health and alter how the brain functions, impacting memory, concentration, mood, and sleep.

Help us bust the myths and share the facts about va**ng!
