💙 Welcome, future Early Childhood Educators!

We had the pleasure of visiting the first-year students in Holland College’s Early Childhood Care and Education program to share about the ECDA, the supports available to educators on PEI, and the opportunities that come with choosing this career!

A big thank you to the students and instructor Cindy MacPherson for welcoming Jenn and Megan McPhee into their classroom, kicking things off with a fun song, and sharing their goals and plans for after graduation. 🌱

On PEI, we're fortunate to work closely with Holland College to help build a strong pathway into Early Learning and Child Care, supporting educators from their first steps into the profession and throughout their careers.

🎨 We'll see these future educators again at our Fall Conference, Start With Play, November 5–6! Thank you for choosing this path and helping build a future where children can play, learn, grow, and thrive.

Directors and Leaders, take a day to invest in yourself and your team!

Join us for a full-day pre-conference experience with Elizabeth Eldridge, Certified Psychological Health & Safety Advisor and professional speaker, as she explores what it takes to build healthier, more connected and resilient workplaces.

In The Thriving Workplace: Building Stronger Teams from the Inside Out, Elizabeth will guide participants through practical strategies for strengthening workplace culture and supporting the people who make Early Learning and Child Care possible.

Throughout the day, we will explore four key areas:

-Building an Ownership Mindset: Supporting team members to take initiative, responsibility, and pride in their work.
- Building a Culture of Appreciation and Belonging: Creating workplaces where people feel seen, valued and connected.
- Supportive Conversations: Developing the confidence and skills to navigate challenging conversations with care and purpose.
- Preventing Burnout and Building Resilience: Recognizing the factors that contribute to burnout and exploring ways to build resilience at both an individual and team level.

Elizabeth brings years of experience supporting individuals and organizations in the area of mental health and workplace well-being. Her interactive and approachable style allows her to explore complex and sometimes sensitive topics in a way that feels accessible, practical and engaging.

This pre-conference day is an opportunity for centre Directors and Leaders to pause, reflect and reconnect with what helps teams thrive. Come ready to learn, share, reflect and leave with ideas you can bring back to your workplace.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour Indigenous Peoples, their cultures, histories, voices, and lived experiences, while recognizing the truths of Canada’s past and the ongoing work of reconciliation.

Education is an important part of that work. As educators, families, and members of our communities, we have an opportunity to learn the hard truths of our shared history, seek out Indigenous voices and perspectives, and help our youngest learners build an understanding of respect, belonging, and reconciliation.

As the late Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair said:
“Education got us into this mess and education will get us out of it.”

🧡 On September 30th, and throughout the year, let’s create opportunities to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

Every child deserves to know they belong. Every child matters.

In solidarity,
The ECDA of PEI Team

Quand intervenir ?
