Through PEI’s Film Production Fund, the province is investing $5 million in the production of Netflix’s highly anticipated series This Summer Will be Different, based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Carley Fortune.

This financial support will help grow the Island’s film industry through job creation, workforce development opportunities, and global exposure of PEI products, talent, and natural landscapes.

The Island Essentials Benefit will put money back into Islanders’ pockets starting July 2026.

As this benefit rolls out, it’s important to stay alert and avoid scams.

Here’s what you need to know:
• You do not need to provide your private details to be eligible, or to receive this benefit
• No one from the provincial or federal government will contact you directly to help you sign up for the Island Essentials Benefit
• Eligible Islanders will receive the benefit automatically after filing their 2025 tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency
