Today, we had the pleasure of dropping off the donations collected through our Fill a Ford Food Drive to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry here in Charlottetown. 🥫🚙

It’s moments like these that remind us just how special our Island community truly is. Knowing these donations will help put food on the tables of fellow Islanders means so much to us.

It Takes a Community to Run a Big Fall Food Drive!

At The Upper Room Food Bank, more than 3,000 individuals access our services each month.

Over 34% are children
Over 35% are employed individuals and families

Each year, the event is powered by 300+ volunteer hours on food drive day alone, with countless more hours spent planning and organizing behind the scenes.

A special thank you to Elaine Fraser, whose many years of leadership through Our Lady of the Assumption Parish have helped make this event a community tradition, along with Steve Mayhew and Greg MacCallum of Charlottetown Y Service for their years of dedicated service and commitment to this important cause.

We're also excited to welcome St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank Cornwall and their amazing volunteers to this year's effort.

Whether you donate food, make a financial gift, or volunteer your time, you're helping ensure Islanders have access to the food they need.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, and community member who makes this possible. Together, we can make this year's Fall Food Drive our best yet!!

The Upper Room Food Bank is in need of reusable grocery bags!

Every day, we use these bags to pack fresh produce and help our clients carry their groceries home safely. If you have any clean, gently used reusable shopping bags tucked away at home, we would greatly appreciate your donation!

🕗 Drop-off Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM

Your extra bags can go a long way in supporting local families while helping us reduce waste and care for our community. 💚

In March of 2020, the radio announced that food banks were facing increased demand at the same time that fundraising efforts were being shut down beause of the pandemic. I initially thought I could help pack boxes at the Ottawa Food Bank. The question arose in my mind, “What if instead, I spent that time creating a piece of art and auctioning it off? Wouldn’t that be of more value?” I thought I would do it every Thursday (because what else was I doing?), until the pandemic was over in a few weeks time. So began my ‘Every Thursday Art Auction’. I launched it on 32auctions.com/christophergriffin. The first painting went for three times its value and raised $1000. That amount of money could buy way more food and help way more people than my sweat labour. So I continued…

In 2023, I opened a studio in Charlottetown, PEI and began splitting the proceeds 50/50 between the Ottawa and the PEI Food Banks: The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Inc.. To date, Every Thursday Art Auction has raised $105,224.97 for the Ottawa Food Bank and $24,731 for the PEI Food Banks. 2026 is the 7th year of Every Thursday Art Auction, running from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, 13 Thursdays in total. The value of this auction isn’t only in the amount of money raised. Every week people help raise awareness of the ongoing need to support the food banks by simply liking and sharing.
