Our guest speaker today was Lawrence Chan of Three Oaks High School, recipient of the Frank Zakem Award for Outstanding Rotary Youth Parliamentarian during the last Rotary Youth Parliament. As part of his award, Lawrence attended Adventures in Citizenship, a project of the Rotary Club of Ottawa, in May.
It was clear from his dynamic presentation, that Lawrence made the most of his opportunity and represented us (and PEI) extremely well. He shared that the three lessons he took away from the 4 day event were; 1. Change starts with you, 2. Stay true to your values (Advocate for yourself), and 3. We're more similar than we think.
Lawrence was the only representative from PEI out of 200 participants from across Canada and challenged us to send more representatives. So, Rotary Club of Summerside, Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty, and Rotary Club of Montague and Eastern PEI, how about it? It's a wonderful investment.
