Advocates, educators, and families have repeatedly identified a shortage of Educational Assistants (EAs), specialized staff, and appropriate programming as a root cause for children with complex needs being excluded from school. As Carolyn Simpson - District 9 identified in Question Period on May 28, without adequate resources, schools don't have the tools they need to serve these students.

This spring, the PEI Liberal Team stayed focused on what matters most to Islanders.

Liberal Leader Robert Mitchell alongside MLAs Hal Perry, Carolyn Simpson - District 9, Robert Henderson and Gord McNeilly reflect on the work accomplished during the Spring Sitting of the PEI Legislature.

Prince Edward Island Liberal Leader Robert Mitchell says the 2026 Spring Sitting of the Legislative Assembly demonstrated what Islanders can expect from a Liberal government: hard work, practical solutions, and a focus on the issues that matter most.

The Employment Development Agency (EDA) helps individuals with multiple employment barriers by providing wage supports through special projects funding to non-profit employers such as watersheds, municipalities, industry associations, and many others.

As Robert Henderson highlighted in his Members Statement, the benefits of this program are numerous: to the workers, to the employers, and to the PEI economy as a whole. To see this Conservative government cut and reduce funding to the EDA by half a million dollars, during a time when economic uncertainty is prevalent on PEI, is truly shortsighted.
