The Cadet Program is designed to help youth across Canada develop leadership, citizenship, physical fitness, confidence, teamwork, and valuable life skills. In a fun, youth-led environment, cadets can take part in activities such as drill, pipes and drums, marksmanship, field and survival skills, leadership, teaching, teamwork, and physical activities.��Cadets also have opportunities to learn about Canadian history, military traditions, and the sea, land, and air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.��Join us for our opening night of the 2026–27 training year on September 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM at 3 Haviland Street. Last Monday four members of our pipes and drums band left for Blackdown CTC to further their skills. CTC Blackdown is one of the best places to go to improve your instrumental abilities and make new friends. All for free! 
 
Cadet Macleòid, Ebert, Mehta, and McCaughey have all been selected to represent 148 at Pipes and Drums CTC Blackdown. Cadet Macleòid is a level 1 bagpiper, Ebert a level 3 Tenor drummer, McCaughey a level 3 Bass drummer, and Mehta a level 2 Snare drummer. CTC will help them complete the next level.
 
 
Pipes and Drums is a mixed course receiving Cadets from each element, Army, Air, and Sea. Covering each instrument found in our bands. Bagpipes, the bass, tenor, and snare drums. 
Mil band covers brass instruments and woodwinds such as trumpet or saxophone. Both courses are vital to maintaining and improving the Cadet bands across Canada.
 
 
The goal of CTC (Cadet Training Centers) is to provide specialized teaching focused on one trade that interests you, such as, Marksmanship, Pipes and Drums, Drill and Ceremonial, and Expedition. Each of these trades have highly trained staff who are focused on each trait of being a cadet. All courses except the Basic Parachuters course have a 2 week camp and an advanced 4 week camp for further training.

C/CWO Ruben Mehta earning Basic Military Parachutist Wings.

Each year, only a small number of cadets from Atlantic Canada are selected to participate in a highly demanding Cadet Training Centre course. where cadets train with high-achieving Canadian Armed Forces members. For the 4 day jumps and 1 night jumps required to complete the course.

To enter this course cadets must be 16 years of age, have a high fitness level andconsistently demonstrate the qualities expected of an outstanding cadet. Then they must be selected out of thousands of cadets until only 5 cadets per year from the Atlantic region are selected to attend the highly competitive Basic Parachutist Course flown out for a four-week course involving intensive physical and mental training and parachuting instruction. Upon completion those who have met requirements receive their jump wings which are kept for life as a symbol of excellence. The officers, staff, cadets, and Support Committee of 148 Charlottetown Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps extend our deepest condolences to the Honourable Robin Croucher and his family during this difficult time.

No parent should ever have to endure such a loss, and our thoughts are with the family as they navigate the days ahead.

Minister Croucher graciously gave his time to serve as the Reviewing Officer for our 2026 Annual Ceremonial Review, and we are grateful for his support of our cadets and the Cadet Program.

On behalf of 148 RCACC, we offer our heartfelt sympathies and wish the family strength and comfort in the company of loved ones.

As the Tattoo comes to an end, we would like to reflect on some of the highlights and extend a heartfelt thank you to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Society for inviting our cadets from 148 and for making this amazing event possible.

Our dedicated band members, along with the officers who instructed them, put in countless hours preparing for the Tattoo, even while balancing final exams at the end of the school year. We applaud them for proudly representing our Corps’ Pipes and Drums band and for the hard work they put into this incredible opportunity.

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a major Canadian cultural event held annually in Halifax since 1979. With millions of spectators and performers from around the world, it is truly an honour to have been invited to perform at such a remarkable event.

Our cadets recently returned from the Provincial Biathlon Competition, a unique sport that combines endurance and marksmanship. Competitors completed multiple 1 km loops with shooting stages in between, testing both physical fitness and focus under pressure.

The competition featured both individual and relay events, where teamwork and consistency played a key role. 148 RCACC is proud to share that every member of the team earned a top-three finish in at least one event. Congratulations to all of our competitors for their hard work and for representing the corps with pride!”
