PUBLIC NOTICE – ACTIVE FOREST FIRE IN PORT HOPE SIMPSON

The Town of Charlottetown is advising residents that there is currently an active forest fire in the Port Hope Simpson area.

The Charlottetown Volunteer Fire Department and Mary’s Harbour Volunteer Fire Department are en route to assist with the response.

Provincial Fire and Emergency Services are aware of the situation, and a water bomber is currently en route to assist with firefighting efforts.

At this time, the Town of Port Hope Simpson has NOT declared a State of Emergency, and there is currently NO evacuation order in effect.

Residents of Charlottetown and Pinsent’s Arm are asked to remain aware of the situation and monitor official communications closely.

Please do not rely on rumours or unofficial information. Additional updates will be provided to residents as soon as verified information is received by the Town Office from emergency officials.
