Exciting News!!

We’re proud to share that Charlottetown is among the first 58 recipients selected for funding under the Community Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Program!

This funding will help strengthen our community by reducing wildfire risks and protecting our homes, infrastructure, and beautiful surroundings.

A big thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and dedication, this is a positive step forward for our beautiful little town.

The first 58 recipients of Community Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Program funding have been announced!

The first round of funding under this program will help communities across the province reduce the risk of wildfire and better protect homes, critical infrastructure, and the environment around them.

With 133 applications received for the first step of this program, we are encouraged by the strong response and will issue further calls for proposals in the months and years ahead.

Charlottetown needs your help!!

Since the beginning of our Local Service District many years ago we have always found volunteers that have stepped up to the plate and went above and beyond for our beautiful little town.

This coming election however, may be a changing scene if nobody else is interested in these positions. These positions can be very time consuming but also very appreciated by most as keeping the membership local has always helped with keeping fees reasonable and services as plentiful as possible and within all guidelines supplied by government.

Government is making some changes to how Local Service Districts are operated and that is why they are putting this election on us along with may other towns who operate the same way. Some of our current members have had years serving and are retiring, and some others can't commit any further due to various personal reasons.

On Oct 2nd please come out to show thanks for these who have helped us over the years and if you are able to, think about joining and helping us in carrying on. If nobody shows interest, sadly we are unsure of how government will deal with us to select someone to run our town and it very well may be done by someone from outside. Hoping to see everyone there and let's hope we find at least a couple helping hands.

As I sit here tonight watching this fire outside the window, my heart aches for the people losing their cabins, and possibly even their homes before this fire is contained.
I also watch from this hill how Charlottetown has become over grown with trees. While they may look pretty, we don't stand a chance of saving our homes should a forest fire ever come close to this town. We should all be doing some fire smart preventative measures around our homes and this town.
I pray we don't ever have to endure a loss like what is happening around us.

At this time they are asking if you could please fill out the survey in the link below by March 31, 2025.
