Charlottetown Fire Department responded to an automatic alarm at the Confederation Centre of the Arts last evening. The response was upgraded to a full station response after smoke was reported in the backstage area. Three apparatus and 32 firefighters responded.
Upon investigation, firefighters determined the smoke was caused by a motor issue and a smoking belt within a ventilation system. Smoke had travelled through the backstage area, and crews ventilated the affected areas. No fire damage occurred.
