Congratulations and Happy Retirement, Staff Sergeant Steve Kloostra!
Last week, Staff Sergeant Steve Kloostra stopped by Headquarters to receive some well-deserved retirement gifts from the Service and the Association as he officially closes an extraordinary chapter of service to our community.
Steve began his policing career with the Chatham Police in October 1994 and, over the next 32 years, served in a variety of critical roles across the organization. As a Constable, he worked in Community Patrol, the Community Priority Action Team, Criminal Investigations, and the Intelligence Unit as a Street Crimes Investigator. Following his promotion to Sergeant in 2012, Steve served as a Patrol Supervisor before taking command of the Investigative Support Section in 2015, overseeing the Forensic Identification Unit, Computer Forensics, Internet Child Exploitation, Vulnerable Persons, Analytics, and Crime Stoppers.
In 2021, Steve was promoted to Staff Sergeant and assumed command of Platoon A within the Community Patrol Branch. His final assignment came in 2023 when he was seconded to the Ontario Police College, where he shared his knowledge, experience, and passion for policing by helping educate and mentor future police officers.
Throughout his career, Steve was a trusted leader, mentor, and teammate who could always be counted on. He built strong relationships both within the Service and throughout the community, earning the respect of colleagues and partners alike. His professionalism, leadership, and commitment to public service have left a lasting impact on our organization and the residents we serve.
On behalf of all members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, thank you, Steve, for more than three decades of dedicated service, guidance, and friendship. We wish you and your family all the very best in this next chapter!
