Please click "Like" to Thank the students of Shawnigan Lake School who came to help assemble gift hampers and make a generous donation from the students' own fundraising activities! Special message from Reese, one the students, below:

"I am a Grade 12 at Shawnigan Lake School, and this year for my Senior Capstone project I wanted to become more involved in community service and local volunteer work. For the first part of my project, I decided to raise money for local families around the Christmas season. Christmas is something that has always been very important to me, but I have recently become more aware of how lucky I am to have gifts, food, and to be around family every year. Through my project, I hope to support local families, as well as asking students at my school to be more grateful for how lucky we are. Through a pyjama dress up day, as well as a charitable food sale, we raised $900 for your charity to go towards local families.

I really appreciated the chance to volunteer with you, as well as to really see first-hand the impact we can have on the local community. Thank you so much for your assistance in this project, I hope we can work together in the future.

Thank you!
Sofie, Mak, Lexxi and Reese from Shawnigan Lake School.

Help! 17 last minute families registered for gifts, and we still have several others. If you can, please donate to our Adopt a Family for Christmas, so our volunteers can get the last of the families done. Given the time left, a financial donation would help best and our volunteers can do the shopping. You can also donate online via our Canada Helps. Thank you! https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/cowichan-neighbourhood-house/

Friday Free Store is open this Friday again (Oct 29). However, we aren't accepting Free Store donations until January, as we are preparing for Christmas Hampers and need the room for those donations. Also, Xmas Hamper application forms are available for families and individuals looking for some help this Christmas. Thanks!

Please join as a community to support our friends and neighbours of Penelakut Island, who are organizing a "March for the Children". The march is in solemn remembrance for the innocent children buried at the Kuper Island Industrial School, and in support for those who survive today.

Walk starts 9am at the Salish Sea Market (formerly 49th Parallel, 2835 Oak St) and ends at Waterwheel Park. Please see instructions at the march regarding waivers. Thank you!
