Thanks for this reminder, Region 6 Solid Waste Management. Kaizer Meadow accepts household hazardous waste at no charge for residents. Please contact our Recycling Coordinator at [email protected] or 902-275-1312 for more information on commercial disposal.

Household Hazardous Waste Depots (HHW) accept waste from residents only.

Municipalities subsidize the cost so residents can drop off their HHW for FREE. These depots can not accept HHW from businesses since different provincial rules apply.

To find your local HHW, please visit: www.region6swm.ca

From the Department of Natural Resources:

August 20, 2026
NOTICE OF AIRBORNE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY AND LOW-FLYING AIRCRAFT

The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Geoscience and Mines Branch, is advising residents that a province-wide airborne geophysical survey program will begin in Cape Breton in late August and continue across Nova Scotia over the coming months.

Operations are expected to continue in Cape Breton for approximately four to five weeks before moving to other areas of the province. Sanders Geophysics Limited will conduct the survey on behalf of the Province of Nova Scotia.

During survey operations, residents may observe low-flying aircraft travelling along systematic flight lines during daylight hours. All flights will be conducted in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and applicable aviation safety requirements.

The survey will collect high-resolution magnetic gradient and gamma-ray spectrometric data along flight lines spaced approximately 250 metres apart. The data will improve understanding of Nova Scotia’s geology and be made publicly available through provincial geoscience databases to support mineral exploration and other geoscience applications.

For additional information or questions about the survey program, contact the Geoscience and Mines Branch at [email protected].
