Active transportation is multimodal and human powered, including cyclists, pedestrians, e-bikes, and scooters. Cities that help residents safely walk or cycle with their children to school, to the grocery store, and to the office benefit from less traffic congestion, cleaner air, and residents that save $100s on car-related expenses. If elected City Councillor, I support alleviating some of our most congested roadways by creating safer, easier options to choose active transportation, like more sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and better accessibility to the city-wide trail system.

So… why should you vote for me?

I have lived my whole life in Chilliwack and understand what a special community Chilliwack is. I have proven my leadership skills through cohesive teamwork and collaboration across numerous industries, I am focused and determined on achieving and supporting the projects and issues I am passionate about while being a good steward for our community. I pledge to listen and keep all community members in mind when making decisions. I will stand by my strong family values that got me elected and make thoughtful informed decisions. I believe that I will make a great addition to your Chilliwack City Council through my community focused approach, innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, strong work ethic and collaboration focused leadership.

When I was 25 years old I started my very first business. Ever since then, I was hooked on using my innate problem solving skills, strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset to bring invaluable services and resources to this community. I understand that owning and operating a local business can be a challenge. That is why I have dedicated so much of my professional life to supporting and encouraging these crucial businesses.

I don’t believe Chilliwack needs to be another bedroom community of Metro Vancouver. We are an economically diverse region of dynamic neighbourhoods and people. If elected as Chilliwack City Councillor, I will focus on municipal investments, projects, and policies that make it easier for more residents to opt-out of their daily commutes to other areas while also living here affordably.

Throughout this crazy campaign period, I had the honor of doing one of my favorite interviews yet! My youngest daughter, Taylor, joined me for a beautiful afternoon in Sardis Park to chat about the campaign process, upcoming election day and beyond. It was so special to have the opportunity to sit down with her (and all the birds) to chat about my why.

I have always raised my girls to be strong, and independent women with a true sense of community and belonging. I am running for council to not only continue demonstrating this to them, but to bring these values of strength and resilience to my work in the community. My husband and I were so fortunate to raise our family in a safe, close knit, and thriving community. If elected I would continue to promote these family values and push to enhance the good work I already do in Chilliwack.

Growing up in the agriculture industry, I gained an appreciation for food security from a young age. I understand that the more food we grow, the more vibrant and sustainable our community can be. That’s why I am so passionate about the projects I work on regarding this key issue.

In partnership with Bowls of Hope and Chilliwack Healthier Community we were able to create the Roots Garden Project. This city garden provides individuals and organizations of this community with fresh vegetables.

There is truly so much to be thankful for this year. I would like to thank my family and friends for your continued encouragement, support and love. I am also thankful for all of you, my supporters. Without your continued donations, volunteer hours, and sharing, we would not be able to run this campaign. And finally, I am thankful for this beautiful community and city that I have the privilege to call my home.
