Yesterday evening, members of the Chilliwack Fire Department were once again deployed to support wildfire suppression efforts near the evolving fires near Boston Bar.
We're incredibly proud of these firefighters who have stepped forward to assist.
Their willingness to leave home, work in challenging conditions, and support British Colombians reflects the very best of the fire service.
While their focus will be on protecting lives, property, and communities, ours will be supporting them from home.
Please join us in wishing our crew safe travels, safe deployment, and a safe return home.
Thank you for your service and commitment. We are proud to have you representing Chilliwack.

It’s warm out there! Keep an eye on those you know who are more vulnerable to the heat and be sure to seek out cool spaces like the spray parks, leisure centres, or libraries. For more tips to beat the heat, visit chilliwack.com/BeatTheHeat

Do you know how to safely dispose of used lithium-ion batteries?
🗑️Never dispose of lithium-ion in regular garbage or recycling as they may cause a fire if damaged in trucks or processing facilities
🪫All used batteries should be properly recycled

Effective at 12:00 p.m. (noon) PDT on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Category 1, 2 and 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with exceptions for Category 1 campfires in parts of the North Island and Sunshine Coast.

Category 1 campfires will remain permitted in the Campbell River Forest District, North Island Central Coast Forest District, Haida Gwaii Forest District and Sunshine Coast Forest District. These areas are currently experiencing different weather and fuel conditions than other parts of the Coastal Fire Centre, with fire danger ratings and fire weather indices indicating a lower wildfire risk at this time.

Conditions are continually monitored, and restrictions are implemented where they are needed most to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and help protect communities, responders and our forests.
