The Fraser Valley Regional District provides dog licensing, bylaw enforcement, and pound services to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, and Mission. A limited aggressive dog service is provided to Electoral Areas D, E, and H. Our CARE Centre temporarily houses lost, stray and impounded dogs. Our dedicated staff provides quality medical care, nutrition, socialization and exercise t

o the dogs in our care. Some of these dogs are waiting to be claimed by their owners, while others are being evaluated to determine their adoption needs.

Jellyfish is still seeking a furever home! This girl LOVES other dogs and would do great in a home with a playful dog to wrestle with! Tundra has been in shelter for several months now, and he's more than ready to make a break for it! Tundra's favorite thing in the world is playing with his doggy friends! He does like a good game of wrestle, so "precious" dogs who don't enjoy rough housing might not return his feelings of enthusiasm 😂 Tundra is a neutered male around 2 years old, and our best guess is that he's a mix of Shepherd, Lab, Husky, and maybe a few other things! Tundra may come off shy at first but as soon as he gets to know you he's all up in your space and is currently working on less enthusiastic greetings with "4 on the floor"! Because of this, and the fact that he is still developing confidence, he's best suited to a home with no young kids. He would thrive in a home with a playful dog (or two!). Widget is fast becoming captain of the good boys club! There's just something about him with his forehead wrinkles and curly tail, the whole team is falling in love with him! We are guessing him to be 2-3 years old, and a mix of Shepherd, and possibly Husky or even some Shar Pei..? Whatever his genetics he is a star! Widget loves learning new tricks and he's starting to show off some pretty great leash skills! Widget also loves dogs, making him a fantastic candidate for a variety of homes! Widget could go to a home with a dog and older kids; we aren't sure if he's ever been around cats but could discuss what a slow safe introduction might look like. Grace. Elegance. Dainty. Refined. These are words that maybe don't describe our wonderful, slobbery, d***y dude, best boy Kipp! But the qualities he has make him worth his weight in gold - Kind, affectionate, sweet, easy-going, social with people and dogs, (maybe even cats?) house trained, good listener... the list goes on!!! It makes no sense that Kipp is still here - he's such a good dog!! You should meet him, really you should. We anticipate that he would enjoy a home with older kids (he loves everyone, just has no idea of his size) and of course he'd be thrilled to find a home with another dog to play with. Yes Kipp is a big boy which means he has an even bigger heart, all the better to love you with!! Aurora can't believe she's still here!! A spayed female Bernese Mountain Dog mix, around 2-3 years old, Aurora has so much going for her! Aurora is calm and affectionate, goofy and attentive. She is a very smart girl, always in tune with her handler. Aurora is potty trained and walks very nicely on leash! Aurora is picky about her dog friends but may be able to live with a well matched large male dog (no small animals though). Older kids would be fine with her too! Otter just seems to get cuter and cuter!! Otter knows his basic commands, likes other dogs, and is a great little size - he's the full package!! We've seen he ca be a tad nervous when first meeting new people, but it doesn't take much to win him over and then he's your BFF! Order can go to a home with:

Bambi showing what a gentle giant she truly is! Have you always wanted a Great Dane? Well here's your chance to have one as your new best friend - for a $300 adoption fee!! There's nothing better than watching a dog gain trust and come out of their shell. Mahi is such a sweet soul, but when we found her she wasn't so sure if we were safe. She always showed that she wanted to trust, but was so terrified the moment she saw a leash - and the thought of exploring the outside world beyond familiar spaces was overwhelming . Slowly, with patience (and a lot of treats!) the team won her over and showed her that these things can actually be good! Mahi has really turned a corner and we're overjoyed to see her begin to play with toys, and seeing her excitement when it's time to go for her playtime almost brings us tears of joy! Mahi is ready to continue her journey. She's looking for a home with a fenced yard so that she can continue to work her way towards taking longer walks without the pressure of needing to right away. She may be compatible with a well matched dog; we don't know her history around other animals but she's a very gentle girl so suspect she may be a candidate. Mahi is estimated to be around 2 years old. Her adoption fee is $300; she will be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption and has already had her core vaccines and parasite treatments ! Stacey's ears make her standout in any crowd! Don't you think she's a bit of a "bat-dog"?! Sweet Stacey is a Lab mix, estimated at around 3 years old. She's just over 50lbs and is a perfect companion! Stacey will make a wonderful camping or adventure buddy this summer! She's spayed and vaccinated - did we mention we offer a two week trail? Carl is soo handsome and sooo smart! We're having lots of fun with this clever lad - someone interested in continuing to develop him will have so much fun and could take him in any direction! Though he is a young, energetic and driven dog, he has also shown already that he is quite sensible and also knows how to relax! Carl has also shown interest in doggy friends (though he comes on a bit strong at times) so we think he could live with a well matched pup! Carl sadly reports that he's been neutered 😅 but that means he's ready to go into his furever home! Of course like always, we offer a two week trial and our adoption fee is $300.
