Friday July 10 at 1500hrs Churchill fire was paged out for a structure fire on Kelsey blvd.
Thankfully no one was inside at the time it the fire. The CVfD determined it was too dangerous to enter so a surround and drown was conducted.
The CVFD had an almost every member present for this fire, we utilized 2 of our 1.75” attack lines, 2 additional 1.75” attack lines, 2 2.5” attack lines and our monitor.
Due to the location and contents, with the assistance of RCMP and MB Housing, the call was made to partially evacuate Orcade Bay, and have all resident close thier windows from James to Munck Streets.
Churchill fire fought this blaze for over 4hrs before it was deemed contained.
Churchill Fire would like to remind the community that we shut down roads and place barricades for the safety of the community. Please respect all barriers and orders from all Fire Department personnel, EMS, and RCMP. This includes both vehicles and pedestrian traffic. We had a massive issue with people trying to get close to this dangerous fire.

Another thank you to Michael Borden and Alyssa Ness for running over to the hall and offering to jump in and assist after just returning to the community , both have been on the Churchill Fire Department previously and did not hesitate to come and assist when they saw the smoke.
