Members of Claresholm Fire train hard to maintain and keep their skills sharp. But balance is important too. On a beautiful day like today, it’s the perfect opportunity to BBQ some burgers, relax, and share stories.

Members from Claresholm Fire, along with our neighbours from both the north and south, have dedicated countless hours toward earning their Level 1 and Level 2 Professional Firefighter certifications.

Today is test day!
A grueling, long day of hot and wet live-fire testing in the tower, vehicle extrication, and the propane tree march.

If successful through the practical testing, they get to finish it all off with a 100-question written exam!

Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far, and good luck!

Well, round two of the NHL playoffs may have just started but it’s Game 7 for some members of the department today.

Best of luck to the Flying Vees, as Firefighters Vanee, Van Herk, and Veldboom are headed to Vulcan with their NFPA 1001 level 2 class for testing day.

Hold your heads up, good luck, and give it a good go today! We’re proud of you and all of the work you’ve put in over the last two years!

Since 1908 to present, the Claresholm and MD of Willow Creek Fire Department has been made up of men and women who have selflessly given their time at a moment’s notice to assist others during what could be their worst and saddest moments.

In honor of International Firefighters’ Day, I would like to thank all firefighters, past and present, who have laid the foundation and helped shape what we are today. To our brothers and sisters in Nanton, Stavely, Granum, Fort Macleod, and to our MD Chiefs,

Thank you for all that you do.

Three members from our local department took part in the 9/11 Challenge to honor the first responders and all those who lost their lives on that tragic and unforgettable day. Each of them climbed a total of 2,200 steps — a powerful tribute to the sacrifice and courage shown on September 11, 2001.

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Landon Hatch, Seth Wagnor, and Scott Fairs for their accomplishment!

And a HUGE SHOUTOUT to Kendis Kirkendall from Real Strength Gym for organizing this meaningful event.

Crews were brushing up their skills for the upcoming wildfire season. Skills reviewed at tonight’s training included: trash-pump operations, chainsaw operation and troubleshooting, as well as portable water-paks and hand tools. Crews then drained and flushed the tank and pump on Engine 13-3 which saw a lot of action on the fire events of March 9. Claresholm Fire was pleased to host wildland firefighter Nicole Powell from New Zealand.

🚒🔥High Winds Kept Emergency Crews Busy! 🔥🚒

Yesterday’s strong winds led to a hectic 27 hours for emergency services crews across the MD of Willow Creek and MD of Ranchland. A huge THANK YOU to our five fire stations for their tireless efforts in responding to four fires, six MVCs, one potential ice rescue, one smoke investigation and one property damage — your dedication and long hours did not go unnoticed!

A special shoutout to Vulcan County Emergency Services for assisting our crews with one of the fires and helping protect our community. To the AHS EMS crews, RCMP and Sheriffs who attended our scenes, we deeply appreciate your steadfast support of both our firefighters and residents.

And to the neighbors and local equipment operators who step up during fire events—you are the heart of rural living. Your willingness to lend a hand in times of need truly defines our community.

Stay safe, everyone!
