Currently there is no danger from the 2 fires near saskum lake. VFD members are constantly monitoring and patrolling for wildfire danger and if there is any ever danger it will be forwarded to public in a timely matter. Please make sure you have downloaded and are signed up for Voyent Alerts. It’s a great tool for our community. Thank you.

🚨 Please be advised as of 12:00 Noon Friday July 10, 2026 campfire ban will be in effect. So that is All category 1, 2, and 3 fire bans are in effect. Thank you 🚨

🚨🚨Despite the cooler weather and rain we have had. It does not take the ground and trees long to dry up please remember that category 2 and 3 fires are still banned. Thank you. 🚨🚨

2025 ANNUAL REPORT: Last year, three TNRD-operated fire departments - Blackpool Fire Rescue, Tobiano Fire Department, and Vavenby Fire Department- were all identified as trained first responders through an agreement with BC Emergency Health Services. This enables firefighters to to respond to medical calls within their service areas, providing an immediate response to 9-1-1 medical calls in these areas.
