The rules governing controlled burning are outlined in By-law 19-2018, which is in place to promote safe practices and prevent the spreading of fires. A permit is required to conduct a non-recreational open air burn. Please submit your application for a burn permit at least 1-2 business days (24-48 hours) before you intend to burn. The application for a burn permit can be completed online at https://portal.laserfiche.ca/s5989/forms/Burn_Permits or you can contact the Municipal Office to obtain a PDF version of the application.

The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election closed on August 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM, the Clerk has reviewed all nominations filed for the 2026 Election following the close of the nomination period, and the list of certified candidates and declaration of acclamations to office are now available: https://www.centralhuron.ca/2026-election

Central Huron electors are encouraged to review the official list to see which offices will be contested, which candidates have been acclaimed, and who will appear on the 2026 municipal and school board election ballot.

Upcoming key dates:
September 1: Voters' List reopens for additions and amendments
October 13 at 9 AM: Voting begins
October 26 (Election Day) at 8 PM: Voting ends

Anyone still interested in running in the upcoming municipal and school Board Election has until 2pm today to file their nomination papers with the Clerk.
Candidate Nominations will be certified Monday August 24th by 4:00 p.m. and posted on www.centralhuron.ca
