To those residents who remain under evacuation alert due to the potential for flooding:
The Village been monitoring the situation during this rainfall event and will continue to do so while it persists. Though water levels are high, no emergency action is needed at this time.
For clarity, the concern regarding flooding stems from the potential for blockage of the culvert under the CN railway embankment above the Village. The Village has been communicating with CN regarding this issue, and as a result CN will be putting in a debris management installation next week to improve the ability of the existing infrastructure to handle increased flow and debris.
In the meantime, the Village wants to encourage affected residents to be prepared to evacuate if conditions or circumstances change.

🔥 CLINTON STRONG - COME SPEND THE DAY WITH US! ❤️

After everything our community and our neighbours have been through this summer, September 12 is about getting together again.

Clinton Strong is a day for community, connection, recovery, food, music, laughter and a little bit of normal after a very difficult few weeks.

The day starts with a Pancake Breakfast from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Clinton Memorial Hall, followed by the Clinton Strong community event at Reg Conn Park beginning at 11:30 AM.

And this isn’t just a concert in the park. We’ve got a lot going on.

🎶 Live music featuring Banjo Bruce and the Bluegrass Beat and The Pines Musicians
🥁 Traditional drumming and cultural activities
🍔 FREE community BBQ
🎨 Family activities
🏰 Inflatable Bouncy Castle
⛳ 9-hole inflatable golf course
🎲 Yard games, cards, puzzles and activities for all ages
🤝 Community and recovery-support organizations on site
💙 A quiet support space for anyone who needs somewhere to sit, talk or simply get away from the bustle

And, most importantly, Clinton Strong is also an opportunity to support the Clinton Wildfire Recovery Fund through the Clinton Food Bank, helping local families and residents as our community recovers from the wildfire.

Residents of Clinton, High Bar, Whispering Pines and the surrounding area are all invited. It's a free event full of fun, family, community, and entertainment.

A High Bar shuttle will run from the Clinton Memorial Hall to Reg Conn Park between approximately 10:45 AM and 11:30 AM, so you can enjoy breakfast and then head down to the park.

Families affected by recent B.C. wildfires are invited to a free online Q&A focused on helping children regain a sense of safety, connection and predictability following a wildfire.

Child-development expert Dr Vanessa Lapointe and child and youth care practitioner Carmen Ohori will share practical guidance on:

• Understanding changes in children’s emotions and behaviour
• Rebuilding safety, connection and predictable routines
• Supporting nervous-system regulation and family connection
• Calming, bedtime and breathing practices
• Returning to school and everyday activities

**SCAM WARNING - CLINTON RESIDENTS PLEASE READ & SHARE**

We have received reports of **several people in our local community being targeted by a serious telephone scam, with victims losing large sums of money.**

The caller may pretend to be your child, grandchild or another family member. They may also claim to be a lawyer representing your loved one.

They will tell you there is an emergency - an arrest, bail, legal fees, an accident or hospital expenses - and that money must be sent **immediately**.

⚠️ They may know personal information about you or your family.

⚠️ They may have someone pretending to cry or sound distressed.

⚠️ They may tell you there is a **"gag order"** and that you cannot tell anyone what is happening.

⚠️ They may ask you to mail a large amount of cash or send money using a Bitcoin or cryptocurrency machine.

**DO NOT SEND MONEY. HANG UP.**

Police, courts and legitimate justice officials do not call family members demanding cash for bail.

Bail cannot be paid with Bitcoin, gift cards or cash sent through the mail, and legitimate court or police couriers will not come to your home to collect payment.

If you receive one of these calls:

• Hang up.
• Call your family member directly using a number you already know.
• Do not call a number provided by the scammer.
• Talk to another family member or trusted person.
• Contact Clinton RCMP at **250-459-2221** if you have been targeted or have sent money.
• Fraud can also be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at **1-888-495-8501**.

**Please share this warning and talk to your parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends.**

These callers deliberately create panic so people act before they have time to think.

Clinton Eco-Depot hours of operation this week:

The Clinton Eco-Depot is open every day this week once again (August 31 to September 6, 2026), with hours of 8 am to 4 pm, instead of being closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The temporary additional days of operation this week are to support clean-up efforts for residents returning home following the Pear Lake wildfire evacuation order.

🕙 RESILIENCY CENTRE HOURS
The Clinton Resiliency Centre is open:

This week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Next week: Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Cleanup kits are available at the Resiliency Centre during these hours. The Red Cross-donated kits include a mop, broom, gloves, masks and essential cleaning products to help you safely clean your home.

Fridge and Freezer Disposal Options Remain Available for Wildfire Evacuees:

Residents returning home following an evacuation order to an area with a prolonged power outage are able to dispose of fridges and freezers free of charge.

These appliances can be taken to the Clinton Eco-Depot during regular hours, located at 5 Boyd Pit Road in Clinton, and can be disposed of for free. Contents do not need to be emptied, but please make sure appliances are taped shut.

Alternatively, if residents cannot transport fridges and freezers themselves, arrangements can be made through the TNRD for curbside pick-up. If you would like to arrange for curbside pickup of these appliances, call the TNRD at 250-377-7188. Curbside pickup will be scheduled at a later date, and more information will be shared when exact timing is confirmed.
