Evacuation Alert Rescinded
An Evacuation Alert issued by the Village of Clinton on August 15th, 2026, due to the threat of flooding caused by the Pear Lake Wildfire has been rescinded to All Clear, effective September 23rd at 2000 hrs.

This All Clear notice affects all properties indicated in the red area in the attached map. These properties are no longer on evacuation alert due to mitigating works completed by CN at the Clinton Creek Railway embankment culvert. However, flooding remains a possibility during extreme rain events. Residents should remain aware of their evacuation route.

Should conditions change, an Evacuation Alert and/ or an Evacuation Order will be reinstated as necessary.

No evacuation alerts or orders remain in effect in the Village of Clinton.

The public washrooms on Highway 97 will be closed from Wednesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 27 for repairs. The public washrooms at Reg Conn Park are still open and available to use.

The new term will officially begin at 6:30 PM November 4th at the start of the inaugural meeting, when Council members will take their oath of office.

⚠️ **BEAR AWARENESS – PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE BEARS**

There are currently bears being seen near **Carson Street in Clinton**.

We are asking everyone to **STAY AWAY from the area where the bears are being seen. Please do not go looking for them, approaching them, or stopping to take photographs.**

We know it can be exciting to see a bear in town. But getting close to a wild bear — especially with a dog or other pet — can quickly turn a wildlife sighting into a dangerous situation.

🐻 **A bear that feels threatened may charge.**
🐕 **Keep your pets under control and well away from the bears.**
📸 **Please do not approach bears for photos or encourage others to do so.**
🚗 **If you see a bear, give it plenty of space and leave the area.**

There’s another important reason to keep your distance: **when a bear becomes habituated to people or has a dangerous encounter, the consequences can be fatal for the bear.** If a person or pet gets too close and the bear feels it has to defend itself, the bear may be considered a danger to public safety and could ultimately have to be destroyed.

That’s not the outcome anyone wants.

The best thing we can do for ourselves **and for the bears** is simple: **give them space and let them move on.**

Please share this with your neighbours, friends and family — especially anyone who might be tempted to head over for a look or a photo.

**See a bear? Enjoy the sighting from a safe distance, then keep moving. 🐻**

Four candidates have been nominated for the position of Councillor out of four positions. The Village of Clinton extended the nomination period for the 2026 general local election until 4:00 PM Monday, September 14th, for the position of Councillor only in accordance with the Local Government Act.
The deadline for candidate nomination withdrawals is 4:00 PM September 18th. Following this date, the final list of candidates will be produced and the Notice of Election By Acclamation will be released.
