Fire advisory

FIRE ADVISORY | A Fire Advisory will come into effect at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, for all of Lacombe County due to warm temperatures, windy conditions, and little to no anticipated precipitation in the coming days.

A Fire Advisory signals an increased fire danger rating, and fire permit approvals may be restricted. Safe campfires are still permitted in Lacombe County.

The following activities are allowed during the Fire Advisory:
• Minor burns (less than 500 cubic feet), as per conditions of the fire permit
• Recreation fires
• Portable propane fire pits
• Gas or propane stoves and barbecues
• Catalytic or infrared-style heaters

This Fire Advisory may be upgraded to a Fire Restriction or Fire Ban at any time and will remain in place until conditions improve.

Last weekend members from all four stations gathered together the very first firefighters gala hosted by Lacombe County Fire Service. This event recognized members for years of services, commitment and dedication and members going above and beyond. We want to congratulate everyone who received an award. We also want to give a big shout to Delaney Fellhauer who received the Lucas Henry memorial award. This award was for someone who goes above and beyond what is expected. Congratulations Delaney and thank you for all the work you do in Clive. Lastly thank you Lacombe County and Lacombe County Fire Service for the great night.

FIRE BAN IN EFFECT | Lacombe County has upgraded the current Fire Advisory to a Fire Ban due to several recent large fires, a continued lack of moisture, and persistent windy conditions.

“The anticipated moisture we expected in late October never arrived,” said Dave Bain, Manager of Fire & Emergency Services. “Now it’s time for us to ensure the safety of our residents and put a ban on burning until further notice.”

Effective immediately, a complete fire ban is in effect, and no fireworks permits will be issued.

FIRE ADVISORY IN EFFECT | Effective September 4, 2025, a Fire Advisory is in place for all of Lacombe County due to warm temperatures, windy conditions, and a lack of anticipated precipitation in the coming days.

At this time, Lacombe County continues to issue fire permits for minor burns; however, permits for large-scale burn activities will not be approved until conditions improve. Minor burns are less than 500 sq. ft. or approximately 50 m2.
