To our volunteer firefighters—thank you for being there 24/7.

Whether it’s the middle of the night, a holiday, or time away from your families, you answer the call without hesitation. Your courage, dedication, and selflessness keep our community safe, and it never goes unnoticed.

We are truly grateful for everything you do.

Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.

Hydrant Access Training Night

Cobalt Fire Department members spent training night out in the community clearing snow around fire hydrants following the recent storm.

Heavy snowfall can make hydrants difficult to locate and access during an emergency. Crews worked to help ensure hydrants are visible and ready if needed.

If you have a hydrant near your home, please consider helping keep it clear of snow. A few extra minutes can make a big difference in an emergency.

🌴🚒 From Snowbanks to Sandbanks! 🚒🌴

Two of our Cobalt Fire Department firefighters recently traded their bunker gear for beach gear while vacationing in the beautiful Turks & Caicos Islands ☀️🏝️

But once a firefighter, always a firefighter —they couldn’t resist stopping by the local fire station to exchange patches, stories, and firefighting knowledge with our Caribbean brothers and sisters.

We’re not saying they planned the trip just to escape winter… but we’re also not saying they didn’t 😆

At approximately 1:27 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Cobalt Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Coleman Fire Department with a reported structure fire on Nippising Road.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames were observed coming from the structure. The homeowner confirmed that no one was inside the structure at the time of the incident.

With the combined efforts of Coleman and Cobalt the fire was quickly brought under control. Timiskaming Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene for minor injuries.

We extend our appreciation to all responding services for their professionalism and teamwork during this incident.

🎖️ Congratulations, Captain Brian Mercier for 40 Years of Service! 🎖️

Last night at our annual Christmas gathering, we had the honour of presenting Captain Brian Mercier with his 40-Year Service Award. Four decades of dedication, leadership, and commitment to our community is an incredible milestone, and we are proud to celebrate it.

The evening was a chance for our team to take a well-deserved break from training and reflect on a successful year. It was also an opportunity to recognize not only our active members, but the spouses and families who support them. Your patience, understanding, and encouragement make our service possible.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Mercier on this remarkable achievement and thank you to all who stand behind the men and women of our department.

Are you heading to the Santa Claus Parade tonight? The parade route runs along Whitewood Ave and starts at 5:00PM.

Cobalt Fire Department will be there spreading holiday cheer with lights flashing, sirens softly singing, and smiles all around! 🚒

And guess what? We’ve been told there will be a special appearance by Santa himself! 🎅✨
So bring the kids, bring the excitement, and get ready for some Christmas magic.

Bundle up, give us a wave as we roll by, and let’s kick off the season together! 🎄❤️

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage and selflessness allow us to live in peace and freedom. We honour all who served and continue to serve—lest we forget. 🌺
