This past Wednesday was a busy one for all of our members.

First, our Public Education team was attending the annual Cobden Public School Fun Fair with loads of swag and the ever-popular junior obstacle course.

Then, members from all five Stations met with members of the Laurentian Valley Fire Department for joint training on rural water processes and techniques. A very big thank you to LVFD for joining us, and a huge thank you to Snyder's Heavy Equipment for allowing us the use of your yard!

The first half of September saw our members utilizing an open night to train on a large variety of topics. From chainsaw safety and use to cribbing and vehicle stabilization to search and rescue techniques.

September also sees our five halls performing the annual hose testing. The pressure unit travels to each Station so our members can ensure every length still meets standards.

Be sure to check out the 3rd annual Emergency & Protective Services United event on September 12 at the Petawawa Civic Centre!

You will find local participants from all three of the Emergency Services branches (fire, police, paramedic) for a fun, friendly competition - all to raise money for some great Renfrew County initiatives. There promises to be fun for the whole family!

This past weekend saw our members participating in several events at the Cobden Fair!

Our Public Education area, along with the excellent junior obstacle course, was in full swing on Saturday, before our members from Station 2 (Cobden) oversaw the demolition derby.

Following that, those same Station 2 members held their annual Sunday breakfast at the Ag Hall.

Thanks to all of our members for their help at the fair!

The temperatures in July and August may exceed 40 degrees, but that never deters our members from doing their best to learn from their bi-weekly training sessions.

These past training two sessions, we have had a combination of Auto Extrication and Open Sessions (alternating for different Stations so every member has an opportunity to learn). A very special thank you to Lad's Auto Recyclers for facilitating both of our auto ex training sessions. Two weeks ago saw Stations 2 and 4 training together, and tonight saw Stations 1, 3 and 5 refreshing the basics and some technical skills.

Our very own Barry Robertson deserves an honourable mention for all of the work he has done over the past four decades in the Fire Service. Barry is a member out of Station 3 (Forester's Falls), and you can often find him still getting right into the action. Whether it is training, or a live incident, we rely on members like Barry, who devote a very large chunk of their life serving their community. Thank you Barry!
