The Public Boat Launch at Aylesford Lake Beach will temporarily be closed from 8 p.m. Aug. 29 until 3 p.m. Aug. 30. The closure will help ensure THE BIG SWIM in support of Brigadoon Village on Aug. 30 is a safe event for swimmers and safety crews alike.

Swimmers will be starting and ending from The BIG SWIM Dock at Brigadoon Village and have a choice of three possible distances: 1km, 5km and 10km (see attached course maps). The event’s Water Safety Team (boats and operators, kayakers, lifeguards, and cap checkers on floating docks) will be out on the water that morning starting at 7:30 a.m. until all swimmers are out of the bigger lake at approximately 3 p.m. There will be swimmers in the water between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, we ask for no extra boat traffic in the area to help keep the boundaries of the course secure, the swimmers safe, and the amount of wake for the swimmers at a minimum. The Aylesford Lake Public Boat Launch will be closed on Sunday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., and there will be a RCMP patrol boat onsite.

The courses will be marked by a variety of bright buoys, barrels, and floating docks. These will start appearing in the lake in the afternoon Aug. 29. We thank everyone for their cooperation and support of this fantastic event.
