🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation🧡

This day provides an opportunity to honour survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts colonialism. We encourage everyone to take time to learn, reflect, and participate in meaningful acts of reconciliation.

The District of Coldstream recognizes that our community is located on the traditional, ancestral territory of the Syilx Okanagan People, and we are committed to continuing the journey toward respectful relationships and reconciliation. 🧡

🧡 A meaningful day of recognition and relationship 🧡

The Okanagan Indian Band and the District of Coldstream came together on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 for a special ceremony marking the permanent raising of the Okanagan Indian Band flag at Coldstream’s Cenotaph Park.

The OKIB flag proudly flies alongside the Canadian, British Columbia and District of Coldstream flags.

More than a flag raising, this moment represents the ongoing relationship between the Okanagan Indian Band and the District of Coldstream and our shared commitment to building greater understanding, respect and connection. 🤝🧡

Together, we look forward to continuing to build and strengthen the relationship between our communities. 🧡
