Municipality of Crowsnest Pass

Municipality of Crowsnest Pass The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is tucked into the southwest corner of Alberta in the beautiful Rocky Mountains ii. iii. iv. v. vi.

The Crowsnest Pass is Canada's southerly traveled corridor of the Rocky Mountains and is historically known for its scenic land of forests and peaks. At an elevation of 1358 meters (4453 feet), the Crowsnest Pass summit forms the Alberta - British Columbia border. At this continental divide, North America's water systems flow in opposite directions: to the East the Crowsnest River carries water to

ward Hudson's Bay while water flows west toward the Pacific Ocean. Carving passes through Canada's Rocky Mountains many years ago, these water systems were not illustrated on many maps until the Palliser Expedition in 1860. Michael Phillips was the first white man to cross the Canadian Rockies from the West to East when he blazed a trail in 1873 through an unexplored area. Today, his work is known as the Crowsnest Pass. Summer day camps are here!

The All-Star Sports Camp runs July 6–10 and there is still room to register. Kids will try 9 different sports throughout the week — from pickleball and field hockey to basketball and floor gymnastics — led by local athletes and community coaches.

Daily awards, a Little Olympics finale, and lots of team spirit. Thanks to our generous local sponsors, camp fees are just $85 per week or $25 per day. Sponsored by Blairmore Lions Club and CNP Agriculture Society.

Illegal dumping of used cooking oil continues to be an issue at the Blairmore Municipal Shop.

Since January, there have been four separate incidents of cooking oil being left at the site. After the second occurrence, signage was installed to remind residents and businesses that the Municipality does not directly accept or dispose of cooking oil or any other items at the Municipal buildings (outside of the Recycle Roundup held in the fall). Unfortunately, the dumping has continued.

Used cooking oil cannot be left at the Municipal Shop or with any other municipal facilities. Individuals or businesses generating cooking oil are responsible for arranging proper disposal through a service provider that offers dedicated collection and recycling containers.

Illegal dumping creates environmental concerns, additional cleanup costs, and unnecessary use of municipal resources.

If you are responsible for disposing of cooking oil, please arrange for a dedicated collection service and do not leave materials at municipal facilities.

Thank you for helping keep our community clean and safe.
