Please be advised that there was a suspected case of Swimmer's Itch reported in Rocky River over the past weekend. Low water levels and warmer water temperatures may have created an ideal environment for the spread of the parasites that cause this condition. Keep in mind that all rivers and ponds are experiencing low water levels at warmer temperatures right now so please exercise caution when swimming in any river or pond until water levels improve.

To avoid swimmer's itch:

1. Stay in deep water: Parasites are most concentrated in warm, shallow, weed-heavy shorelines.
2. Towel dry vigorously: As soon as you step out of the water, dry off completely with a towel. The parasites tend to burrow into your skin as the water evaporates from your body.
3. Shower immediately: Rinse off with fresh tap water right after swimming if possible.
